create yourself a shortcut in your battletech folder to make life easier once you find it.
an example savegame looks like this:
7c27a3ee-6843-4819-9e6c-a8df81a85d23.sav
There is a savegame editor @:

No, no, I know where to find the pilot files. I just don't know where to find the specific file for my main character.
The player character is not pre-generated so your "pilot file" is stored within the savegame data which is why you need a savegame editor.
Curses!
Oh well, I guess I'll have to settle for marking up boxes of Machine Gun ammo for 500 million C-Notes a pop.
What's the problem? Altering a game file is the same as using an editor to give yourself c-bills or XP.
Because the grind is aggravating, when you've got stuff like permanent character death, and your mechs can be rendered inoperable for several missions while you pay to have them repaired.
When it comes to single player games, I don't give a damn about honor and fair play. I play them purely for the sake of entertainment. And if a single player game is too difficult for me to win normally, I use cheats to even things out. ;)
Multiplayer games are a different story, though.
