Is this game singleplayer or multiplayer focused?
I wanted to know if this game, coming from the developers of the great Shadowrun series, is singleplayer focused (as i hope) or instead multiplayer focused.

Thanks.

Multiplayer in beta was fun tough. Actually at times much more fun than fighting with pretty straightforward AI, that just run over you and try to do brawling. Some balance issues was there, that, I think can and will be adressed.

While the game is single player campaign based and is a rpg lite take on mercenary life in the Battletech universe. The single player skirmish and pvp skirmish come with a mech lab. So lots of fun can be had by fans making tournaments, leagues, even setting up a Solaris style role playing setting. All it takes is fans willing to put the work in. One thing Battletech has is loads of fans that love this IP so I imagine we will see all kinds of things pop up because of this.

I personally plan on using this game as a multiplayer coop role playing game. We will setup in my living room using the 80" big screen and play as a group thru the campaign. I will GM and have 4 players taking the roles of the Commander and npc pilots. Should be lots of fun to do the game this way. Even more fun once more customization is added after launch. And the modding community will make this game last for decades especially since it is DRM free and does not need steam or anything to work.

Will there really be mechlab in skirmish mode? That will ruin all the balance that was already cheesy as hell, with DFA, and knockdown mechanics. You know that or just made an assumption?

In pvp the anti cheat mode is the fact both players must have identical clients. So if someone modded in an illegal mech, it will not work in pvp. But if you use the mech lab rules for this game, total boating broken mechs from previous renditions of Mech Warrior, etc will not be available as engines cannot be changed in mech lab.

As with everything, buyer beware, especially in pvp. Gloves are off, I would suggest finding one of the leagues that will form and find good people there. Most are fun to play with and honest and will even help you if you ask. They might destroy your mechs in the pvp, but they may then help you understand what you did, and how they took advantage of it. Always be willing to talk and ask nicely. Lots of the older more knowledgeable players are willing to share information. Its how the Battletech universe keeps growning even after 34 years since it first came out as Battle Droids for tabletop.

Boating isn't a problem, if you played beta, then you know some issues that was there in multiplayer. Mechs can be optimised to a very unbalanced degree, where Kintaro or Orion can get even more of a threat. And Locust with flamers, oh, you will miss old DFA buff. ))

That will be very sad if it's true. And you just didn't answer my question. Do you know that exactly or just making assumption?

The screens show an option for mech lab outside of the campaign. Does that mean you can build mechs for skirmish. I do not know for sure, but that was stated for being in the game. We will not know for sure until April 24th.

Sorry I cannot be more precise with my answer. I played a couple hundred hours in the backer beta, but zero hours in pvp. It is not the thing I like most about this game. I am looking forward to the single player campaign and using if for a tabletop game like setting with friends around an 80" big screen tv. Such that I will GM and my friends will play the commander and npc mech pilots. So coop without a coop feature. Yeah we will make it work.

Mechlab with 'house rules' Im sure. The Cheese will be kept to a minimum but Min/Maxing players will push as much as they can.
