Start a new game to enable Heavy Metal?
Heavy Metal comes out in a couple of hours and I'm pretty excited. Do any of you guys know if I'll need to start a fresh game or not to get the new mechs and weapon systems into my campaign?

it should just meld into your game naturally. So even if it is not a new Campaign, you will start seeing the mechs in game, and if you have completed Campaign mode, or in Career Mode, you probably just have to wait a bit before the Flashpoints start to appear.

I'm 90% Sure you will need a full re-start. Any why would you NOT restart? This is not just a MECH dump, the new mechs will change how you play the game, PLUS there are 50+ new mission scripts. You'll miss new expeeriences, just re-start :)

Yup, there is light mech, it's useless in end game, or post endgame, restart game might be more fun, if we can get new mech in storymode in early of game.

I will say this is incorrect, both Flashpoint and Urban Warfare melded into my first campaign which I haven't really finished,

Also that is not a good reason why a full restart is needed. You can definitly change the way you play just by obtaining the mechs during the mid of your current game, and with the 50+ mission types, they don't just show up early game. they will show up middle and end game.

I wouldn't say it would be useless, it the least likely to be hit light mech and with the new Coil system, this brings a lot of changes of how a Light Mech can be viable in Late Game.

The strategy will be totally different in every phase of the game with the new mechs and buffs..plus I'm sure they have made it VERY likely you get some of the new light MECHS as part of the new start of a game. I would expect most will get a FLEA and an a new 40 tonner at the start of the game.

Yes I will start a new Story-Campaign after Heavy Metal and Patch 1.8 installed. The Devs announced not only new Features, they announced on PDXCon changes to the Existing Game & DLC´s incl. Storyline.

Is there a offical announcement that you ned to start a new campain or else?
Or is this all just speculation?

Speculation. You didn't need to start a new one for the other DLC.

(That said, there are apparently a new thing or two in the Career setup options.)
