Confirmed: Does work in Windows 10
When I run it from Steam, the game crashes constantly, but if you navigate to the program file and run it in compatability mode for Windows XP service pack 3, the game works fine.

Thanks for the advice. I'll be sure to test it out. Been waiting in vain for a patch.

Same for me, it was lagging...etc. Did the same and run it in windows xp SP3 and so far everything seems fine.

Too bad it still didn't work for me. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Didn't work for me, either. Well, it STARTED to work. Game opens and starts, but I have a dual monitor setup and it sprawls the game halfway onto the second monitor. After the opening cut, when the book drops, I get the "hand" mouse icon but as soon as I try to move it, it disappears and I can't seem to get it back to DO anything.

Hitting ESC takes me to a New / Quit / Resume menu with a volume control, but again no mouse. Keyboard shortcuts don't do anything, either. I have to use Ctrl-Alt-Del to stop the game and get back out.

Playing on Win10 with 8MB RAM, nVidia GeForce GT 960.

Are you running it in combatability mode?

Tried that -- XP SP3. Still nothing.

Gave up and am playing Myst Masterpiece in same compatibility mode. At least it works... Riven is doing similar obnoxious things and crashes on me. I've owned all the Myst games since forever, but was dismayed that my disks no longer worked under newer versions of Windows.

Hence my purchase of the Cyan game pack here. Alas, two of then 8 in the pack aren't working right. Not thrilled about that. (And no Myst IV anywhere...)

I take it back about Riven. Suddenly it's working in Win10 here via Steam. Now, if only realMYST would work that well... :)

Work on win 10,

Open "My Computer", locate "Local Disk (C:)", expand that to Program Files (x86) > Steam > SteamApps > Common > real myst. Locate the file "RealMYST" (it looks like an open linking book). Right-click on it, select Compatibility. In the drop-down box, select "Windows XP (SP2)". Click OK.

Run as Admin, aways
