Ignorance is Strength FAQ
Agents,

This FAQ will help answer the most common questions about Season 2 of Orwell- Orwell: Ignorance is Strength. As we continue to reveal additional information for Ignorance is Strength, this FAQ will update accordingly. Feel free to ask any more questions you might have in the comments section.

General
When will Season 2 be released?
Osmotic has been hard at work on Ignorance is Strength and, of course, we want to bring it to players as soon we can. The nature of development makes it difficult to pin down an exact date as of yet as we want to provide the most quality experience possible.

A soon as we know a date, you will know too!

What inspired Orwell: Ignorance is Strength?
Ignorance is Strength is inspired by the fundamental change in the way we consume information in the contemporary age. Especially the rise of “fake news”, the social media echo chamber and the death of "truth".

Similar to Keeping an Eye on You, Season 2 of Orwell is inspired by George Orwell’s '1984' and uses some of the motives from the book, such as the literal quote 'Ignorance is Strength'. Keep in mind, Orwell is not directly related to 1984 in any way. Ignorance is Strength is a modern day approach to topics presented in George Orwell’s writing but are equally as inspired by current events, exploring political power and democracy in Orwell's fictional post-truth world.

Is this a completely new story or a sequel/prequel to the first?
Ignorance is Strength is a brand new season of Orwell with a completely new narrative that takes place parallel to the events of Keeping an Eye on You. This time you will play as a government insider, with access to new features in the Orwell system; working with (and against) a new cast of characters.

New tools are being introduced that will provide you as a player with more investigative control and even the ability to influence public opinion directly. Keep your eyes peeled for more information on these mechanics soon.

Will Orwell: Ignorance is Strength release episodically, like the first game?
Yes, Ignorance is Strength, like Season 1, will deliver content episodically. We love the fact that the episodes allow our players to converse and share your experiences multiple times during the course of the release.

Please post your feedback and theories as much as you like, we love to read them!

Demo
Will there be a demo for Orwell: Ignorance is Strength?
There are currently no plans for a demo of Ignorance is Strength.

The Keeping an Eye on You demo is still available and is a great way to introduce new players to the game.

Will Orwell: Ignorance is Strength come to Mac or Linux?
Yes, Ignorance is Strength will be available on PC, Mac and Linux at launch.

My first question is how many episodes there will be. I am assuming 5 like the first game. Then second, what are the new "features" of the orwell software?

and for the price?

Is there at least a ballpark on the release? Is it imminent, this year, next year? Just some wide time range guess?

Really looking forward to it. Orwell was an awesome experience.

I guess you're going to hate me for saying "when it's done", but yeah, that's pretty much it. ;) We have an idea when we want to release it, but chances are it's going to change a bit, so I'd rather not say anything for now.

I have one. How will it handled with the ending of the last season. Will we see anything from the events from the last one?

No worries. I get it. Good luck!

We'll say something about how we will handle that in the future. But we will do something with your old profiles, so keep them.

I'm willing to pay top dollar right now

I'm really jazzed up about this, currently replaying the first one to clear out the missing cheevos.

If any of the devs are listening, though, I do have a plea to make: is it possible to allow the player to advance dialogues by clicking anywhere on the screen, rather than having to click on the message box? It's just one pet peeve, hopefully it can be done! Looking forward to season two!

Will there be a DRM-free build? If so, will it be released at the same time as the Steam version? I'll buy the game anyway, but it can't hurt to know in advance which options will be available, in case there are specific plans.

For the mentioned season 2 feature, does it matter how many profiles in season 1 you have, and how far you progressed? I'm asking, because to get some achievements in season 1, it can be useful to partially reset the progress.

I'm looking forward to Ignorance is Strength! :)

May you gave to community important thing for ~600000000 people - mod tools for localization? I buy Orwell, but cannot play it because I cannot read all this texts in literatury english. Possible, but too hard. :morgantalks:

That would be cool, or if that's not possible I'm sure you'll find volunteers willing to translate the game into other languages. I have no problems in that regard, but it would be awesome to let the entire world experience your games (I'm an Italian living in Switzerland, so you definitely have fans worldwide -- go for it!)

If I may, I have another couple of things on my wishlist: the first is the ability to disable unnecessary communications from the adviser via user preference, this is especially useful for subsequent playthroughs (and I cannot count the times I wished Symes would just shut up ;). The second is making the clue uploading process more responsive, let me explain: every time, it seems that before I'm able to click and drag a clue to the character, the mouse has to hover the clue for half a second before it "activates", and especially when I'm following a conversation where clues scroll along it can get a little annoying. Possible? :)
