Hardcore not achieved?

This game really hates giving people achievements huh.. I have played it before but wanted to try hardcore... finished it and did not get anything. i tried to see if it was an error by doing the whole ending discussion again but still nothing.

Steams background thingy was on and i did get the "venture into hardcore" just not the ending. (i could be stupid and didn't finish the game correctly but i didn't even get the award to get Kim to wear the jacket even tho i guess he did?? i don't know) 30 hours wasted i guess but oh well :/

did you turn it on before "new game", or did you switch it on at the beginning, after character creation.
surprisingly, a lot of people ended up doing the latter and not getting the achievement.
