What makes certain skills appeal to you?
As the title says, what's the appeal to you of the skills you like? I mean this more in a roleplaying sense, what flavor they add to the table, than pure gameplay (which is of course also a big factor).

Doing my nth playthrough, and I'm seeing a new side to some skills I hadn't used much before. Others have been staples of mine for every run. To name some and what appeal they have for me:

Conceptualization. I love the abstract thinking and flowery artistic commentary, plus it's associated with one of the best thoughts in the game (Actual Art Degree).

Electro-Chemistry. "Without a working knowledge of drugs and sex, the city will be hard to understand". Doing drugs in Disco Elysium is a surprisingly rewarding endeavour (boosting skills and learning caps) and the understanding of the libidinal goes a long way.

Interfacing. I'm a bit of a torque dork myself and like everything else in this game, machinery is also often described in such a poetic way.

Inland Empire. I think this one's a bit of a no-brainer. Almost everyone loves this skill. The paranormal insights (sometimes true!) provided by this skill together with Shivers and Esprit de Corps are great. They're a clever device to hint or foreshadow things to the player character in a seamless way without adding a fourth wall revealing information to the player character separate from Harry.

My first playthough i put loads into Empathy and EDC because i wanted to get more insight into Kim lol. Shivers too, since I learned about DE though that one Jacob Geller video essay where he says its the best skill in the game. And he's right, it's awesome. My favourite is probably Drama though, just because its fun to lie and the karaoke scene is really nice.

Shivers reveal more of the story. There's no need to play to win with this game. It's what makes it unique. Just different experiences dependent on what path you choose.

i'm actually happy people are picking shivers, i had mentioned in a thread how much it hit me to see how kim really felt about harry in that remote-vision of him in the hospital.
...enough that i redid the fight and kept kim out of there.
