No idea what to do right now. Help?

So, uh, I've been playing this game for a good amount of time at this point. I've been playing since yesterday, and the game is so far incredible. However, with the days being extremely long, I'm still only on day one, and I've completed a good amount of things. I've found my clipboard, I did an autopsy on the hanged dude, I've talked to Evrart, I've learned how to be an A D V A N C E D racist from measurehead, and finally, I've talked to the wild pines diplomat woman.

It now seems that everything I can really think of can only be done by like day three. I looked up a guide on finding my gun and badge and that requires me to wait until the bridge thing is closed. Same with the ledger I have to deliver to some random people. (You probably know all this already).

Anyways, I'll get to the point. What do I do now? How do I pay Garte for the damages? How do I open that door in the whirling-in-rags kitchen, etc.? What is there that I'm missing?

Kim should be able to cover your room fee for the first night if you're short. Explore around more on day 2. Try to avoid spending any money until Day 3+, save whatever you get for day 2 room fee. If you don't have enough you will soft-lock yourself and forced to get bad ending. If you need extra cash you can try selling stuff to pawn shop or use the plastic bag to collect junk to sell for a bit of extra money.

Day 3 on onwards you can get access to a free room and don't need to worry about cash then.

How exactly do I do that? I just read this reply and went to talk to both Kim and Garte but none of them have any dialogue about getting the room payed off other than Garte just yelling at me about the 130 bucks I owe. Does it have to do with the time of day? Because in my game it's currently like 19:30
