why do I lose at a 72% roll, like what is this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I'm going into this game blind by the way

So there's a 28% fail rate then. Not that surprising to fail when on average you'll fail it ~1 in four chances. Assuming it's a white check you can unlock the check through several means (easiest way is to put a skill point into the relevant skill, good idea to reserve skill points for this). Also, failing isn't neccessary a 'dead end', sometimes it can actually be better or more interesting lol.

HAH, 72%? I had a 96% chance Visual Calculus check on the Samaran Butter sign, thought "nah, I won't waste my cigarettes to bring it up to 100%, why bother?" Game says NOPE, FAIL. Guess a speck of dust floated in my eye or something?

Can't get a 100% success roll actually I think as a critical fail roll (snake eye) should always fail the check.

You're right. I tried to get 100% today on another check by smoking and it caps at 97%.

If you are really bothered with the checks - you always can do a save-scam, it works in this game. "Balance" it in a way you want if you feel 50%+ chance should be a 100% win.

I did the same with *the* hand eye coordination check. I Had 90ish percent chance to succeed, along with spare levelsups, but decided to let it roll. Two people died, yet it somehow felt appropriate so I didn't reload.
