In previous, non-terrible runs I've tried doing straight edged runs but maybe the answer is to use drug and clothing bonuses? There is also some clothes that give bonuses to Shivers too.
The one thing I seem to have trouble with is not being able to get certain thoughts to trigger, like the Anti Object Task Force, since I fail so many checks.
It looks like a good thought to get is Rigorous Self Critique, that helps if you have little money for healing items and fail checks.
P.S boring cop thought is huge in 1-1-1-1 build.
