Depends what you'd call "boring". If you absolutly need action in your RPGs then yes it is boring.
If you can and want to enjoy well written dialogues and interesting characters then no it's not boring.

Ask yourself if you'd want to play a game that's just text, well written text, but just that.

You can blow your head off after failing a random check, your brain speaks to you, you punch the lights out of a kid, it's the opposite of boring

i only can say it is a really good rpg, i was looking for an rpg without combat.
but thats taste, you better should watch some lets plays and such to see if its something for you, other peoples opinions wont help you i guess if you really like combat in an rpg.

i say "no, it is not boring without combat". you still can die.

What is "combat" in the average rpg? Click enemy or select attack and watch what happens?
This works the same way, except instead of swinging at an orc, you are selecting from a number of choices about how to respond to seeing a smoldering cigarette butt, determining whether or not you are driven to buy a pack or even smoke the butt in the tray.

It's not for everyone. Starts pretty slow, but once you uncover the mysteries behind the murder, it's tough to let down. Also, your partner is likely the bestest pal ever.

Honestly, I think taking out the bog standard cRPG combat would make a lot of these games LESS boring

Not only is the game not boring but it has ruined my perception of other RPGs. So many other RPGs force you to fight everything you come across and I simply don't like that anymore. Disco Elysium proved that combat is itself the most boring part of any RPG because they made everything else so interesting.

Do you enjoy reading? If you're the kind of person that find intensity and get enjoyment from reading a well-told story, then you will probably have no issues with the game being boring. If you are the kind of person that hates reading books or finds even the best of dialogue in games boring, you probably won't get into DE so much. Personally, I did not find this game boring at all, and I played through it multiple times. Oh, and technically there is 'combat' in this game, there just isn't much at all, and what there is does not play out like an action game or a typical rpg...it plays out the Disco Elysium way, and what is there is excellent.

+1
Reminds me a lot Planescape : Torment

Not having combat actually makes it better. The game tries to have a lot of dialogue in good quality and that is its main goal. If they had focused on making the game have combat it would not have been as good, not just because of the amount of time that it would have taken them to make the combat, balance it, make it entertaining, etc. But because it would take away from the experience itself of going around and having conversations with people

Also, unlike other rpgs that do that, it doesnt have to deal with the "ludonarrative dissonance" of "We explore morality in this game!" and then you kill probably thousands of people because the name above their head said "Bandit"
This is the truest RPG I've ever played. Everything else is an action game. In this game you truly create a role and play it.

On top of that, every confrontation I've had in this game has been incredibly intense. A gun is a gun in this game. It's lethal and terrifying - as it should be. If you need your "hero" to leave behind a trail of corpses like Genghis Khan, there are plenty of games on the market to suit you. This is something different.

read some of the reviews, especially the negative ones and look for points that most of them mention:
- the ending. it's bad
now imo:
- the writting is ( in more generous terms ) not good.
- the optimization is bad

+ the artstyle is great. the digital artist who worked here did a good job.

I won't be here to discuss this any further friend, since like every other forum on steam, the vast majority concentrate of the positive aspects.
imo do some research, read what the game is about and read the ending ( maybe someone did a summary on that awful lot of text ).
if you still feel this is your type of game, then you got your answer.

At first I thought you were just wrong, but this statement proves that you are actively delusional. The Steam Forums are one of the most toxic places for game discussion on the net. It wasn't always like this, I used to come here for a good discussion of games, but times have changed.
