The creators posted this blog [medium.com] ... From what I remember, the Ilmar guy, who has ownership of the studio, fired the creators themselves from their own company, and the company was bought using the creators' money garnered from the earnings of this game. This news is pretty big. Surprised you didn't know.
At the time the creators owned a minority shareholding in the company so it wasn't their own company was it?
It was. Kurvitz and Rostov (the creators) along with their team built Za/Um as a company. But in the beginning, someone was funding them until a part of the studio was sold to that Ilmar guy when they could no longer fund the company. At least, that's what I heard from people.
Then it sounds like ur screwed mate
Yeah no... Already bought the game unfortunately taking Dopey Shepard's advice, and played it for 8 hours straight none stop
I can't remember the exactly figures by there were three main shareholders with the devs holding a minority stake so presumably this was how the got the funding to develop the game to completion. The problem came when one of the shareholders wanted to get rid of their stake and another of the shareholders bought it giving them a majority holding and so control of the company.
Then it gets worse as it turns out that holding ended up being paid for by the company itself.
That's certainly bad of course but at the time this happened the devs didn't own the game and they also, as far as I'm aware, didn't own the IP.
All a shame really as I'd have loved to see a DE:II but that doesn't look as though that's ever going to happen.
Also, just in case, P-ing (sailing the high seas) rarely ever gets any malware on your system. If you go after trusted "persons of interest" they will not be putting any malware in their stuff. Fitgirl and Dodi are your friends
I care, lil bro.
