Disco Elysium
Thinking about getting it but is it political?
The fact it's made in Estonia is kind of a red flag. I'm not sure whether the game will be woke, communist, or nationalist tbh. The fact that it's breadtube's favorite game doesn't help.

So is it a good game in spite of the propaganda in the game? ty for responses

Because the Baltic states were basically founded on grifting. Currently, they fervently and unquestioningly support NATO and American hegemony and are rewarded handsomely for it. Before that, they were communist. Before that, they were axis. Before that, they were communist. And before that, they alternated between being all of these ideologies and simply being part of Russia.

This is bound to affect the media that comes out of the country, especially if said game is known to be political.
right, so what i said. are they woke though?

guys countries that i'm not part of are basically hive-minds and every citizen is a layer cake who automatically agrees with everything that happened in that countries history and unconsciously and consciously puts those ideals and views into everything they make. is Estonia woke or not

Yeah, I mean it's not like game devs are ever political right? They just want to make games. That's why the only discussions about this game, between the dozens of people in this thread and the thousands of Youtubers, are about the politics and not the gameplay.

How could I have possibly interpreted a game explicitly about politics coming from one of the most politically charged countries as political? I guess I just need to shut up and give these totally not political game devs my money for a walking sim that totally doesn't have any dialogue or RPG traits, because it's not political. Thanks video game hero, you are truly the defender of game devs everywhere.
Please try to talk to a maiden irl.

Look, I'll just answer the question in the OP straight up:

The game is fun and the gameplay is solid, even if you rule out the political aspects you are not obligated to follow through with and even if you're not into detective fiction.

Yes you will be presented with political themes left and right, however, you can ignore them or even mock them in your own way through cop personas you can choose to endorse.

Your partner, Kim Kitsuragi, will also often point out inconsistencies and falacies in each political view and activelly discourages you from concerning yourself with those topics in favor of solving the main plot's murder case.

If you interpret the game as a fun ride it will be a fun ride but if you go into it already holding political grudges and biases you're going to find exactly what you're looking for because that's all your head will be thinking about.

The game is political, no one is seriously arguing against that.
The comment you're replying to is mocking the concept that people outside of *insert country you live in* don't have political divides.

The Estonian President is an independent candidate, Alar Karis. He has said he is a conservative as he loves Estonian traditions, and that the language and culture of Estonia is very important to him. His background is in biology and genetics, and he is also the director of the Estonian National Museum. A man of culture and science.

They currently have a coalition government made up for the Estonian Reform Party, (right wing liberal), Estonia 200, (centrist liberal), and the Social Democratic Party, (left wing Socialists). The coalition government is headed by Kaja Kallas leader of the ERP, and hottest Prime Minister to ever live.

It's pretty clear from this, that Estonia has a very diverse political landscape.

It's actually retarded to describe Estonia being a member of NATO as "woke" and "grifting", when they were conquered by Russia and fought a war of Independence from Russia, then were conquered by Russia again, then Germany, then the Russians again, gaining independence, again, when the USSR dissolved. The sole reason NATO exists is so these Nations don't get steamrolled by Russia, and the people don't have to live in a perpetual warzone, fighting against foreign invaders.

I'm sure all Estonians "love" Estonian traditions, language and culture. That didn't stop them from joining NATO, giving all their weapons to Ukraine and opening their borders. These countries were saved from being "steamrolled" by Russia, but in turn were steamrolled by the US/Germany. They are not independent; they grift wherever they need to, to survive.

Europeans love to act like their systems are so complex because they have more than two parties but there are no practical differences between these parties. At the end of the day, all western European countries are welfare states who will open their borders in light of declining populations in order to prolong neoliberalism/NATO at the behest of the US/Germany for as long as possible.

Therefore, I think my question was reasonable.

Funny, I could swear this extremist take is actually explored ingame somewhere. You really should give the game a try, honestly.

Ah, now see, that would actually be interesting since I'm not sure what kind of extremism this would be. Maybe I will pick this up during the summer sale, it deserves to be explored.
I just lost some brain cells :( shouldn't have clicked on this page

Okay, well look at it this way.
Your profile says you're American.
Does that mean all games from the USA are political propaganda for the deep state?

Yup. In fact, this is talked about almost every single day in case you haven't noticed.

Oh come on now, I love a good excuse to dunk on americans and their often one dimensional political views but even you have to admit what you just said is rather silly, plus you've already proven you can think way beyond that.
