Crashing on startup

As the title says, I have done a full reinstall, deleting the files and everything, yet the game still crashes when it starts up. I try to wait it out but it crashes anyways

having trouble with this as well, there's a strange popup for a few seconds and then the game refuses to launch

Same. On SteamDeck and Arch Linux Desktop. Tried everything from Proton GE 8.32, 9.5, Experimental, and 7.0. Just crashes at startup.

Furthermore, I keep getting errors about unable to sync cloud saves. No issues with any other games.

Hitting Alt+Enter to put it in windowed mode while its loading fixed this for me. I turned down the settings from the main menu and now it launches fine.

that would be helpful but it didnt even load, i fixed it for me by switching what hard drive i installed it, hopefully thatll work for other people

I've found the solution, the root cause is from mod either remove the mod or change the config by, go to your game folder (e.g. \Steam\steamapps\common\Disco Elysium), then open the file doorstop_config (this config is from mod) with notepad (or any text editor) and you will see these

# Specifies whether assembly executing is enabled
enabled=true  => change this from true to false and then save the file
...

Change the "Specifies whether assembly executing is enabled" from true to false and save the file, then try launch the game, this solved the issue for me.

I was using the Disco Explorer mod for another play-through on Steam Deck. Game won't launch with the mod until it's updated. Thanks for the heads up!
