Nope
Short answer - yes.

With more detail (SPOILERS) - there are options, to get OTHER weapons, but not yours. Because without Claire you would not find and meet that woman that has your gun.

About other weapons:
- Finding antique weapon from catacombs, near Bear Fridge. (I'm not sure, if it's working.)
- Taking Ruby's gun (if you let her perform a suicide)
- Making a Molotov (You'll have to get a spirit from drug trader, Rosemar; have your Horrific Tie on yourself until he suggests to make a Molotov of "himself" and the spirit)

These are the ones I know enough.
But let me ask this - why you don't want to help Union?

Yes, you can. You just need to know where to go to find it.

Because the Claire brothers are mob bosses who do shady (to put it mildly) sh*t to acquire power

I like where the conversation leads us. Let me put my point of view here...

Since Coalition took the Insulindian (in other means, Revachol, Martinaise is a part of it) they did not do sh*t about the place. Have you seen Martinaise? In which ruins it is? Have you heard about other parts of Revachol from Shivers - Jamrock, Coal City, even the East part of Revachol? Moralintern left this country to rot.
And for me - Union being a "mob" is nothing compared to ignorant Coalition because of what Union is going to do. Yes, Evrart is being shady, yes, he has his own reputation of being corrupt and bad. But he is making a change for this part. He's going to rebuild Martinaise, make it prosper.

I think I just realized it now, in the third playthrough, being an ignorant Moralist. Next time, I'm going to be either commie or ultra.

Here's my opinion that has nothing to do with the main question above.
If you still want to go against Claire, please, give me much bigger counterpart argument for this time:)

Yes, the moralintern isn't doing much to rebuild Revachol, and yes, the Claire brothers claim have a vision for it and seem to care about it and it's inhabitants to some extent. However, if they get their way, they will become the dictators of Revachol. They will use the people as pawns to achieve their goals, even if it ends in bloodshed (note how they're pitting the Hardie boys against the mercenaries without proper equipment, they're very replacable cogs in the machine), threaten and silence political opponents and whomever else they want (scaring racist mug guy is only the tip of the iceberg), and make tons of money from organised crime (which causes its own heap of suffering and corruption), which Martinaise is yet to see a lick of improvement of.

Well, Life will never get better, I guess. It'll be just different...

I would love to know that as well! Seems impossible to me.

(Topic is already marked with "spoilers", so I guess I don't need spoiler tag) As Pigs clearly buys your gun from Roy before the game even starts, how can you find her without Evart actually arranging that? Does someone else help you arrange that meeting if you never go talk to Evart? Do you find Pigs under an especially big rock or something ;)? Cause you definitely can't get into her apartment (It's not a part of the accessible area). I went everywhere in this game and poked my nose into every hole and never found Pigs before Evart makes it possible. However, I don't claim to have tested every possible variation, of course.

To add more flare in this - hasn't there been mentioned that Moralintern itself - is THE most corrupt system?

The moralintern itself is another can of worms, this discussion was about why you wouldn't side with Claire, which i've given a bunch of reasons for

Wait but if you remember coin-operater viewer (the one where you need 25 cents to see ruins of the tower) someone from 49 wanted to restore the town to pre-war state but Evrart was the one who shut it down. Probably to do it himself in the same way he treats fisherman village.
So he is not better than the others. It's just a matter of whose sins you would prefer to ignore. :)
