So in my opinion it has nothing to do with politics, just flavor to the world.
But it can be amusing to play as a drunken, super-racist, fascist crackhead. I can't think of any other game that actually lets you role-play as someone like that.
The game's pretty wacky, and it's probably better not to play it in a serious way. Just roll with it. Regardless of your own personal ideology, this isn't the game if you want to play it as a heroic cop who is a really great guy.
As Rialm said, you can choose to ignore the political thoughts for your own character, but you can't escape the dev's political biases in every other part of the game.
Personally I never noticed any overt political or woke bias in the game, and I'd say I have a moderately highly calibrated woke-detector.
But the actual focus is on letting you do whatever. Go punch a kid, go do every drug you can find, go paint an empty wall with you opus magnum, go explore the local cursed building, go help some punks make a night club, and go sing sad karaoke. Oh yea, you're also an amnesiac and you're supposed to solve a local lynching. You can ignore that, though.
But the politics is simply one aspect of the world and more serves as lore for the universe that was built. You can choose to favor one viewpoint over the other if you choose to favor any of them.
That being said, I will say that the right wing politics are not as well written as the left wing ones which I do believe is unintentional. The developers are definatly left leaning and have a good understanding of politics, but because they are not right wing they did a worse job at representing it. But I would say it seems to be a genuine attempt at understanding of those politics and they overal are represented well. I mean if you speak and look into the main character that represents the right (will not spoil the character and relation to the plot) but you will find her by the sailboat. She represents the economic low regulations very well. She has motives and presents arguments against the corruption of the union that organized a strike.
But also do note that you are in a union town where the union controls everything and even has its own enforcement arm. But it also means that most of the people you talk to are socialists or neutral because you are working in a town where the industry is all controlled by the union. So I think that has a little bit to do with it, but that isn't to say that it is shown as more favorable than the right.
But Do also note that the politics in this game are more than just left and right. I say left and right in reference to economics. There is also authoritarian vs liberatarian, and also the racial supremacists and the opposite. And they are not tackled as being together. I mean the racist character is a socialist who is part of the union strike. So I will tell you right now that the game is much deeper than what most people think in terms of politics. Realistically politics is used as world building and helps enhance the characters as believeable people each with their own opinions including the flaws of those opinions.
You wake up with amnesia which makes you a blank slate to do with whatever you like.
