*Maybe* a disco 2 would've been one of the exceedingly rare exceptions to this trend, but I doubt it, and I think it's more likely that we dodged a bullet by there not being a sequel.
Sequels that are as good as an original are hard I feel as often part of what makes the original so special is they done something different. That's just something you can't really repeat.
Saying that what I'd like to see is a new game that used the same setting and also how the game plays but with a totally new story and character. Not sure that's ever going to happen though.
Level of originality, say what you want Disco Elysium is one of a kind.
But life that goes on.
This was one that deserved it in my humble opinion.
Sad, but at least he existed.
Thanks from now.
Citizen Sleeper is kind of a lite version of Disco.
I'm not sure I'd describe it as similar but it does seem to be one of those games that if you like DE you'll probably like it. In the same vein I think Roadwarden is worth checking out. At first glance it may look like a choose you own adventure game but it's got a lot more depth than that and there's even a demo you can download. Dirt cheap as well.
I'm really glad that there's a demo available as it was one of those games that I thought I might like this but also thought was it going to be one of those indie games where the concept was good but the execution wasn't. I didn't even finish the demo before I pressed that buy button.
One of the things I do like about it is as it's stripped away that expensive graphics stuff it plays more to the theatre of the mind which for me gives a more TT RPG feel.
Even if a sequel did come out, it wouldn't be the same and wouldn't be something that I would buy based on what's happened at ZA/UM and to him.
Robert Kurvitz says repayment of €4.8 million to ZA/UM changes nothing, still considers his legal options[gameworldobserver.com]
I'd be more interested in the next game Robert Kurvitz works on
As long as he keeps writing and designing.
I can't wait to see what this guy is up to in his next project.
Wow, this is amazing news.
