Achievements not working

Almost 30 hours into the game I realized the achievements aren't working, is there any fix out there? Searched but couldn't find anything.

Have you unlocked any cheevos? They aren't really linked to big story beats, unless you have literally finished the game.

I think a played through a big portion of the game, not sure. I guess I missed out on the earlier ones. I found that the only way to make "cheevos" to work is running steam big picture mode.

Given this is a Unity engine game, your Steam overlay must be active. If it's turned off, achievements will not register.

Is your Steam overlay disabled by chance?

No, I never disable steam overlay. I've read comments similar to yours, that isn't the issue, for some reason the achievements will only register when I run the game from big picture mode, I've read online others reported the same thing.

Can you think of an achievement you should have popped and are still missing? Like with a full playthrough it should be almost impossible to not hit one of the "say 7 commie/liberal/boring/"traditionalist"" achievements, but we can confirm by looking at your journal which should list how many points you have in each cop-o-type

If you are 100% sure you should have gotten an achievement by now, try this:

Start a new game in hardcore mode and then complete any task, the easiest and fastest would be to find your second shoe at the beginning.
You then should get the "Venture into the HARDCORE" achievement.
This takes about 5 minutes, if you get it you know its your other save that wont register achievements.
If it doesn't, try to "verify integrity of game files", if that doesn't work, re-install the game, if that doesn't work, contact a support team of steam and/or the game's support team.


If you are not 100% sure, try to get the "Palerunner" achievement, should be possible for you now at 30h+ playtime, on youtube you can find a quick and easy guide to get this achievement and i doubt you would have gotten that achievment while just playing the game.

Any fix for this? I just started the game. Overlay is on. I turned on big picture mode based on another thread. I'm in hardcore mode prior to starting my first ever new game, but when I pick up the second shoe it doesn't pop the achievement and in my task list it still shows finding the shoe as active instead of completed.

Tried verifying files and rebooting and restarting a new game with hardcore enabled and still no success. It oddly still shows the "find second shoe" task as still active (incomplete) in my log, despite finding it. Basically dead in the water if this can't be fixed.

How did you start the game? What I used to do is do big picture mode like full screen, then start the game FROM big picture mode, another guy suggested testing using palerunner achievement, check above

Sadly, no luck. I tried launching the game from big picture mode and even started a new game (after making double sure hardcore mode was enabled). I got the first shoe, examined the window, went and got the second shoe and nothing. It still shows the "find second shoe" task as not done. I'm not sure about the other achievement you mentioned, but unless it's near the beginning, I don't want to sink time into this too much if it's broken. Maybe I can try it on my old PC, though I'm not sure why that would make a difference.

Yeah, I saw that. I'm hesitant to play further into the game if this is broken. I'm a 100% chaser, so if one achievement is broken but another pops, then it messes up my 100% record. I'd rather drop it if this is broken. I appreciate the suggestions, though.
