Locked in the back area in the book store overnight?

I'm pretty early in the game, and just talked the bookstore owner into letting me into the supposedly cursed backroom. I explored the area then tried to leave, but the door I used to get in is now apparently locked for the night. I can't see any other way to get out of the backroom area. Am I missing something or do I literally just need to find a way to kill the entire night in this place?

Time actually stops at 2am in this game, so you can't wait until morning. Do you have the flashlight? Have you found the door to the basement on the far left of the map? The stairs on the right side of the basement lead out to the street.

Go into the basement, there's another exit there. Leaving via it unlocks entrance to basement from street level (where the building intercom is)
