white checks modifiers bug (i guess so)

Hey,

so I have a few important white checks locked (opening the ice cream maker, the talk with Morell to get the next quest etc.) and I have reached max of the skill required, so I can't unlock them the usual way.
I internalised the thought from Joyce (the insulidian miracle) which was supposed to unlock ALL white checks - none of that happened. I also got one red die from the Novelty dice maker and one from the board game in the bookstore. The checks remained locked after that as well, basically nothing changed. Afterwards I've tried saving game and reloading - this didn't help either, still locked.
I know I can try booze or drugs but I'm playing a goodie-two-shoes-sorry-ass-cop and would rather not. Aaand I'm pretty convinced it wouldn't have worked either.

I've found no info about this being a common bug - but I really want to finish those side quests... I was sure the thought and dice were supposed to help me :[

I am also having this problem (and am trapped in a doom spiral with the ice cream maker despite having the right tool and having unplugged the cable days ago). I recently worked to acquire The Litany of Contact Mike and it has had no effect on the physical white checks whatsoever. Likewise, purchasing a die had no effect. FWIW, I broke down and tried some alcohol.... it did NOT help at all.

Have found a rather inelegant - but as far as I can tell, working - solution for this.

I followed the instructions for editing a save from this thread - I was also stuck on the ice cream container, so I changed the maximumValue of Physical Instrument from my current 5 up to 6 - just doing that didn't work so I went and made it logically consistent by editing one of the listings for a Thought (can't remember which sorry) so that its bonus to Physical Instrument was one higher.
When I went back into the game my Phyical Instrument was maxed out at 6 (instead of maxed at 5 like it had been when I had saved) and the ice cream container check had unlocked.

I also went and failed the dicemaker's legendary shivers check, ran The Litany of Contact Mike, and confirmed that the check reopened afterwards, whereas when I had tried Contact Mike before it had gotten stuck and not reopened any checks, so I believe this fixes the issue. I'll be sure to let you know if I find any further bug instances because save-editing always feels like such a Pandora's Box to me lol, hope this helped at least though.

I'm stuck unable to open the ice cream maker as well. I think it's a game-breaker so I'm going to scum-load a few times and eventually edit the files and cheat.
