If all else fails, there's always save editing.
As far as I can tell they are all from situations that I have solved otherwise (e.g. warded door). Do you have a list of the ones that refresh daily?
The only one I still had remaining and actually found in the world was the barbell/gym one ... I save scummed (with a 7% chance) until I passed it - hoping that it would earn me 5xp - but I got nothing for it ^^

Sounds like a better solution than just waiting until the end. I'll look into it.
What's annoying to me isn't that I missed a critical 97% skill check. It's that the game is basically punishing you for maxing out a skill since you now can't retry certain checks anymore. Feels like I should've kept the skill points as "extra lives" so to speak instead.
You can try talking to characters you've already met and rereading books you haven't looked at in a while. If your skills have gone up, sometimes you'll hit a passive you didn't get the last time. That could be your 5XP. And then... Well, I think you've earned the right to save scum again. And save often and in different slots.
I never really looked too deeply into the save editing, but giving yourself a few extra skill points shouldn't be too hard.
