Mega rich Light Bending Guy question
Long story short, i got into the shipping container for the first time today. i could go on about how this was one of the things i was unable to get done during any of my previous play-throughs, or how surprised i was at what was inside (seriously, a million years of guessing i wouldn't have thought of it), but suffice to say, i'm in now, and i have a question about it. i noticed that while inside the cargo container, my money count fluctuates. not only that, but its around 15 million. seams to go up the closer i get to the rich guy. i'm just wondering if anyone has any thoughts, comments, or lore about this. normally, i would think its a bug, but the whole, light bending thing suggests its intended behavior. also, if there's a way to keep the money after leaving the cargo container, that would be top on the list of things i would like to know. thanks in advance for whatever responses i get from this.

More like a meta bug, an interface screw, as part of the joke of the Mega Rich Light-Bending Guy. You do not actually have that money. I'd say the gag is more like he's so much richer than you, to such an unfathomable degree, that your mind just can't process the difference. Money loses all its meaning, guy might as well be from another dimension, etc.

why do you need that much money? you can sell him an item during a quest and use what you get to even buy a 700 real item lol
wait, what now? what quest? what item can you sell him for that much money? when i got to him i was on day one, and i was save scumming, so i got to him really early before i got a lot of side quests. i hadn't even talked to the white pines rep yet.

to answer your question, i don't NEED that much money, i WANT that much money. why? well, why not? its not in my nature to look for cheat codes, or see if i can modify the save to add money, but if there's an in-game way to make that much money, even an exploit through game play, well, yeah, i would love to do it, just for fun. it also would be nice to have enough money to buy everything without having to worry about running out of money. my first play though i didn't look up how to do stuff (there may have been an exception here and there). Now, i'm re-playing the game, this time trying to do everything i can as best as possible. obscene amounts of money would help 100% the clothing collection.

You can get him to sign over a stock certificate worth a nebulous amount as part of the ultraliberal vision quest. It think it's actually only worth 20,000 real. And it's not even really worth that because almost no one will accept it. Roy will let you buy the street lamp with it, though, and it's part of how you get Idiot Doom Spiral on board for the quest.

You can get 700 real legitimately, though, even without doing the vision quest. Mostly by taking the thoughts that give you money as early as you can with as much left to do as you can.
20,000 real would be awesome. i'm not familiar with that quest. after finished the game, i looked at a lot of the things i could do in the game, but not that one. i have a pretty good grasp on what there is to do before the bridge opens on day 3, but not everything....light bending guy being a prime example of something i don't know.

It's not really 20,000 real in game terms because no one will accept it, but it does free up some money for other things and you should have more money anyway on an ultraliberal playthrough. The Fifteenth Indotribe, Indirect Modes of Taxation, Wompty-Dompty Dom Center, and possibly Hobocop are the thoughts you want.

yeah, i got that its not really 20,000 real in game, i just meant it would be nice if it was.
the rest of what you said went a little over my head. i haven't delved into the cop type or politics yet. when i feel like getting into that part of the game, i'll look into those things you listed. this game has A LOT of depth.

Absolutely tons. Wish I could go back and play it again for the first time. Have fun with it!
honestly, this isn't the game i wish i could play again for the first time. that honor goes to Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis. thats the very first adventure game i ever played and i still remember how i felt playing it.

You shouldnt need that much money tbh, the game doesnt make you spend money if you know what you're doing.

First thing you should do is go to Joyce and ask for money, she'll give you 100 real, then wait until 10pm on the first day, Kim will give you a set of wheel to sell so you can pocket the 100 real from Joyce. You only have to pay for the 2nd day at the Whirling Rags.

When the bridge opens just go and ask the lady in the hut she'll give you free place to stay, so the game gives you 80 real for free.

Or you could just beg for money from everyone like I did from the first playthrough. I think begging and always choose money option gives me the quest for the dude in the container.

2nd playthrough I didnt beg for any money or take bribe, I was a communist so I didnt get that quest.

Oh and you get an achivement for always trying to hustle too.

If you talk to him day 1 and tell him and ask him for money you can pitch him an investment opportunity and if you were able to drop the bill given to you by the wirl in rags manager you actually can afford to buy the room, but he will only give you something like 102 real. BUt that should be enough with the bottles to cover the expense, but that early you do need some serious luck along with the proper stats to get that combo.
The nature of the MRLBG is that he is so astronomically rich he effectively exists in a financial distortion field. Simply being close to him causes one to become exponentially more wealthy in accordance with proximity. But once you depart, your economic value as a human returns to baseline. It's like if you were to hang around a billionaire in real life - you would suddenly be privilege to his place on the resource chain, but only if you were able to maintain your relative position. Go hang out at an upscale social event (art opening, country club, fundraising gala, etc.) and you'll get a sense of the psychic impact.

You can eke a bit of money out of him, but only a modest amount. He didn't get where he is through charity!

Though this may all seem like a glib metaphor, it's actually a pretty succinct expression of a real phenomena.
"i could go on about how this was one of the things i was unable to get done during any of my previous play-throughs, or how surprised i was at what was inside (seriously, a million years of guessing i wouldn't have thought of it), but to say, i'm in now, and i have a question about it."

This is called, "going on and on about ♥♥♥♥ nobody cares about". You could just say, "I have a question." Providing meta analysis about what you could say AND Then SAYING IT ALL ANYWAYS makes you sound like a stupid, narcissistic tit.

What a nasty reply.
