Stuck/ Black Screen / Crash

i installed the game a few hours ago and have been unable to play it. i see the first loading screen with the sunset picture (or something like that) and then another loading screen, all black with some text at the bottom, i'm able to move the custom cursor in both. one time after waiting like an hour i got a black screen and a song playing. if i try clicking the mouse in any of the three screens i get a windows popup saying disco.exe isnt responding. already tried everything i could find online and nothing worked. im using windows 10

@alva - I disabled cloud saves and deleted the file found in C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Locallow\ZAUM Studio\Disco Elysium\Settings.

Seems to be working now

i figured it out! i had to close Folding At Home.

it's a program that lets you devote your spare computing power to protein folding research. if you don't know what it is.... it's probably not that! but see if you have something else running in the background that's keeping your CPU utilization high.

i never heard of that. but i got it figured out. i let it sit running and about 2m37s it booted up. havent' had a problem since. i have no idea what happened for it to just start working like that

Hi guys, i tell you my solution now. Switch the game to windowed mode by pressing alt+enter as you open the game. The game will be stuck on the black screen in the same way, wait and start clicking on the game screen when the game's music starts. That way I was able to open the game, i hope it works.

Same here. They didn't fix it.
