Report a translation problem
I recently submitted a bug report of a SAVE problem that I can repeat at will. I successfully internalized a first thought early day1. Since then, if I complete internalizing a second thought, immediately at conversation end - I can no longer save. Backing up and stopping the internalization fixes the problem. I've moved thru the game and have repeated the problem in subsequent days with 3 different thoughts. I am running both DE and Steam as Administrator.
Can you tell me if this is a known problem being worked? And if there are any workaround I can take in the meantime, cause otherwise I love the game. Thanks Jim
Agreed. I noticed that too. Accessing the Thought Bank made a pop-up display, saying I completed a Thought. I could then save. Very weird.
I knew my problem wasn't the Administrator, since I was able to save just fine for the first several hours, so I found it strange my Save function suddenly broke.
THIS! check your thoughts section and then the "solution" will pop up. After that you should be able to save.
I cannot save in my room, coming down the stairs, or in the hall after rejoining KK.
I can CONFIRM....this worked for me as well. Thanks!!
Anyway I think I have found a fix for the save errors, so here is my experience:
Whenever I hit F5 for quick saving, I've got an error message with a prompt asking me to send a report. The game can continue though, so I have no idea the save was broken at that point, but what you realize later is that the save failed. Sometimes it happens for an Autosave or a normal Save as well.
Strangely, the Disco Elysium folder located in the User/Name/AppData folder of my PC was on Read Only. I unticked the box, thinking this would fix the problem, but NO, it didn't.
I noticed that inside the SaveGames folder, the save files names were sometimes in English, sometimes in French as I use both language when playing (with the L hotkey). Like: Martinaise Day 1 and Martinaise Jour 1. Could this entail issues? I launched the game again, (not in admin mind you, just a normal launch through Steam), the bug was still here, couldn't quicksave, BUT as soon as I hit L and use english, then the quick save worked as intended.
I'm not saying that will fix the problem for everyone as I'm not able to reproduce the problem/fix, now the game seems to save properly. But if you encounter this atrocious issue, give it a try.
(TLDR) What resolved it for me was temporarily unequipping everything.
So It might be safe to say that if you have spare skill points or not validated thoughts you might experience this issue. Spending points and validating thought will solve it.
