Need help getting boots from the dead man.

So it's 2 am, finally got rid of the side kick and when I go back to the body their is no option for taking anything of the boots. Any help is appreciated.

You need to have finished the field autopsy before you get the option to take them.

When doing the initial view of the body you need to attempt to take the boots and get the task. Without the task, your character won't be inclined to take them.

It's like if you go sneak into the harbour first without confronting Measurehead - you won't have the option to fight him, because you don't need to, and that container behind him will be forever out of reach.
