What builds are you going for for the final cut?
Still haven't decided on a build. Post yours and let me steal it.

Another interesting approach, try to roleplay your IRL self, starting from the stats.
It's What I did as a 1st playthrough and had a real blast.

Going 2/4/2/4, bonus to shivers. 2 is good enough to train any skill in INT to 4 (5+ with thought cabinet). I like most of the PSY skills, so starting them at 4 and being able to raise to 8+ is great. 2 PHY is MORE then enough (played though the game once, almost never had to take an emergency heal to prevent heart attack) and with the focus on shivers, I can train them all to 6 if i need to. And with 4 to MOT, I not only have a good chance of shooting down the body, I also don't need to invest much to get decent numbers on the wide range of skills in the tree that I use.

Do you guys think it's more fun to have high scores in something and low in others or have a few averaged stats?
When I saw this game and read the description, my thoughts went straight for "how can I make a Philip Marlow, slow burn, noir, bitter and tired, the-world-is-probably-out-to-get-me" detective, but the thing about Marlowe is that his stats are just very average. He's probably decent at talking to people and slightly above average at thought process, with an average physique, etc. Just seems like averaging everything out could potentially end in a boring run without hard failure or high success

It definitely does. The game has a TON (over 9000, not even joking) of hidden passive checks, and most of them will only trigger if the specific skill is high (or low) enough.

Averaging everything would stop you from enjoying a lot of them. That's why most people will recommend you to start with two high stats and two low ones, and only focus on improving your main ones.

Int 4 Psy 4 Phy 2 Moto 2. like my first playthrough . And if I end up playing a second time, at least a bunch of point in Shivers.

Love Authority, Shivers, Visual Calculus, maybe suggestion.

Shivers build and then transitioning to maxed out Perception for endgame.
