Too bad I can't hear the others speak but even that is preferable to voiced narration.
Hopefully they fix that soon.
they won't because it doesn't need fixing / isn't a problem
Every option leaves me with that narration which leads to me having all voiceover on silent as that is the only way I can play the game...
I somehow doubt that was their intention.
Yeah they already included it the classic option but it's not fully implemented or something. It would be nice if they included more options or just implemented it the full way like, I don't know what that other dudes problem is but it seems pretty simple.
*you still get some in certain scenes, but it's much easier to skip through without getting distracted if that's your thing.
I get you don't like the narrator's voice, but others do. It's a highly subjective thing.
There are 24 skill types. Did you expect them to find and use 24 different voice actors to voice them all differently? The main narrator's voice is so distinctive and unique I don't think he could've done them sufficiently differently himself.
Full voice narration was already a massive undertaking that was offered to existing and new players *for free*, so I don't understand how anyone can expect any more than that! That's not to say they can't tweak some of the voice-over options (or add new ones), such as turning off just the narrator's voice for people who don't want that.
I also listened to the previous voice of Cuno and I can't see what the big deal is about the change. Yes the former Cuno was more intense, which suited the dialogue, but he also sounded too old, considering Cuno's at most 12 years-old according to the game. The new voice sounds appropriately and believably younger, yet is still sufficiently crazy.
i think most people who don't like the change would be perfectly happy if they could just opt out.
No, but talented voice actors have the skill of modifying their voices to sound different. Check this out for instance:

I know it's only 7 of the 24 skills, but still, there's some personality to the voices at least.
Thing is, that kind of narration comes way too close to voiced protagonist and for me personally that is a big no no when it comes to RPGs.
Had to finish the game on mute voiced acting and this update has put me off another run, even though I intended to replay the game immediately...
