I'm about 20+ hours in, loving the game, and all of a sudden...all my saved game data is gone :-( The game just auto-updated and since then I can't load any saved games and when I went to see my remote storage data through steam, there's no saved game data there. can it really just be gone?

there's no locally saved data. i'm playing on a mac. please help! not sure I have the heart to start over from scratch when I was so close to finishing :crying:

Hi there, firstly please try to re-sync your saves from the cloud.

Please then check to see if your save files are located in either of these locations.

~/Library/Application Support/com.discoelysium.zaumstudio/

or com.zaumstudio.discoelysium

Or com.ZAUMStudio.DiscoElysium

Many thanks!

thanks for the quick reply. Ok, it does look like there is data saved locally in om.zaumstudio.discoelysium. How do I re-sync it with the cloud? I've tried restarting my computer, steam, and the game multiple times with no luck.

In other words, I do see saved games in com.zaumstudio.discoelysium on my hard drive, but this data is still not accessible in the actual game and when i go to https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorage, it doesn't show up there either

Hi there, firstly if you start a new game, please locate where the saved game is on your computer.

Then you should be able to move your other saved data into that folder and continue as normal.

Many thanks!

Hello - just wanted to report that I had the same issue. I am also on a Mac.

I was able to resolve it with the solution you provided - by copying the saved games I found in Library/Application Support/com.zaumstudio.discoelysium into Library/Application Support/ZAUM Studio/Disco Elysium/SaveGames.

Had this exact thing just happen to me. Updated the game, now there's nothing. Steam still shows my 40 odd hours playing, but no option to Load any saved.

Can someone walk me through how to fix this please? VERY new to MAC use so I have no idea how to find the Library or App support folders or basically do anything.

Ok it worked! Thanks the gods.

To recap what I did (@battlethegazz):
1. Find where on your hard drive your original saved games are located. Try searching for "com.zaumstudio.discoelysium" in your finder.
2. Once you've find that, start a new game and save it.
3. Then find where your newly saved game is being stored on your hard drive. For me, it was in Library > Application Support > ZAUM Studio > Disco Elysium. Copy the saved files from step 1 above into this new folder.
4. Launch game and pick up where you left off :-)

Holy crap, this just happened to me after 30+ hours into the game. Also on Mac. At first I looked in the ~/Library/Application Support/ZAUM Studio/Disco Elysium/SaveGames, and there was nothing there but a file called steam_autocloud.vdf. Also looked in my Steam Cloud and there was no entry for Disco Elysium.

I then found ~/Library/Application Support/com.zaumstudio.discoelysium/SaveGames (as mentioned above) and fortunately my saves were all there. Quite a shock with this update!!

Same problem.
MacOS as well.
https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorage does not include Disco Elysium, so there are no saves in the cloud. Even though it's enabled both in Steam and the game settings.
Moving saves from com.zaumstudio.discoelysium to ZAUM Studio solved it.

Hi, thank you for this!

This might sound like a Day One sort of question, but how do I find the com.zaumstudio file? I've tried that in Finder and nothing comes up. Nothing for Disco Elysium or Zaum Studio by themselves either.

I'm much more used to Windows, so finding folders on a MAC is totally different.

This happened to me as well, and I've been trying to find a solution for so long!
This seems to be some kind of update-caused global bug, since most people here (including myself) see to have experienced tis same thing at December 22nd.

Thanks for the solution, worked perfectly!

Got it!
And I'm back! 39 hours odd of detecting and being disco have been saved!

Thank you everyone in this thread for all your help!
