Loading saved games on Mac
Hello,

I started playing this game on Windows, but I have changed to Mac. When trying to Load game on Mac, I cannot see my old saved game (the one I had when I was playing on Windows). I would like to recover those saved files, any tips?

Thanks

Please try placing the save into the folder you found that had no save game folder and see if that helps. Thank you for your patience.

The Steam Cloud save feature isn't cross platform in a lot of cases. I remember that borderlands 2 had this same issue.

You need to manually transfer this game's save data via usb. I don't know where the save games are stored on windows, but I reckon theyre stored in the Application Support folder under the Library folder on mac. I don't know for sure as I have yet to purchase this game. I'm still reading up on this game performs on macOS before making a purchasing decision.

If you no longer have access to your old save files, then you can try installing the game on a Windows based computer, and hope that the Steamcloud syncs them up.

Hi there Silksong, sorry to hear you are experiencing issues do you mean you can't see your Windows saves when you load up the Mac version of the game? We do have save syncing so I would recommend firstly logging in and out of Steam again and ensuring you have a stable internet connection.

Windows Save file location - [DRIVE]:/Users/[YOUR-USERNAME]/Appdata/LocalLow/Zaum Studio/Disco Elysium/Savegames.

Save game location for Mac.
~/Library/Application Data/ZAUM Studio/Disco Elysium/Savegames/
or
~/Library/Application Support/com.zaumstudio.discoelysium/SaveGames/

Thank you for your reply.

Logging in and out of Steam didn't work.

I accessed Steam cloud on the web browser and managed to find the save files from Disco Elysium. I cannot post a screenshot here, so I'll paste the name of the file, in case that helps:

WinAppDataLocalLow
ZAUM Studio/Disco Elysium/SaveGames/AutoSave, Martinaise, Day 4, 07-43(1_7_2020 11-33-36 PM).ntwtf.zip
885.69 KB

I found the saved game location in my Mac in the second link you provided. However, pasting that file there didn't do the trick... Could you point me out in the right direction?

Thanks

Hey Silksong, just to clarify you found the save game in the second Mac location I linked? If so I would recommend trying to place it in this location - ~/Library/Application Data/ZAUM Studio/Disco Elysium/Savegames/

If that doesn’t work or that isn’t the case, I would recommend sending in a bug report to our developers so they can investigate the save issue. Many thanks!

If I go to the Library folder, I can find the folder called "Application Support" inside, but not the "Application Data" folder. Inside "Application Support" I can then find the folder called "com.zaumstudio.discoelysium". But inside this folder there's no "SaveGames".

In other words, if I try to follow the two paths you mentioned for Mac storing location. I can only get to "Library" in the first path and to "com.zaumstudio.discoelysium" in the second path.

I hope what I wrote is clear enough to be understood :)

Thank you very much!

I finally managed to solve it. If there's anyone else having this problem, here's what I did:

Opened the game and created a New Game on Mac, so the game creates a SaveGames folder (the path for me was ~/Library/Application Support/com.zaumstudio.discoelysium/SaveGames/ ). Then manually downloaded my saved game file from Steam Cloud and pasted it there. Important: the folder you download from Steam Cloud is a .zip folder, *do not extract it, paste it as it is*. The .png files that are also stored in Steam Cloud seem to be irrelevant, just copy the .zip folder.

Cheers
