Do I have to change clothes?
Hello,

I am thinking of whether or not I should buy this game, so I want to ask if it is possible to beat the game without having to change clothes? In my opinion it breaks the immersion to change clothes in order to succeed in a conversation...

You can get along in the game with one set of clothing. You might find the best pair of shoes, pants, and shirt, and put on say your raincoat when it is raining and put on your thinking cap, fedora when doing some extra puzzling. I generally started each day with a similar outfit on and only changed something if I really wanted to pass a speech check.

As long as you're fine with a greater chance to fail die rolls — and you should be, as failure is its own reward in this game — then running around with one set of clothing is fine. The game does a very commendable job at adapting to how the player wants to approach it.

There should be a Diva Cop achievement. It takes "Clothes Make The Man" to an extreme. On a very personal note, I've discovered that changing clothes improves conversations with my wife, something I more or less missed during bachelorhood.

In the game, I generally just keep the same clothes, and adjust as whim, roleplay, and the look of the clothes strike me at the time. If I change clothes to improve an outcome, it's because I am save-scumming.

Definitely possible, and the game's more interesting if you don't try to optimize every check. Sometimes failing checks unlocks stuff you don't see otherwise. They did a pretty good job with the bonuses assigned to the various clothes, so chances are wearing the outfit you think suits the character you're RPing will actually help with immersion just based on the passive observations you unlock.
