Is it possible to dodge Kortenaer shot (The Mercenary Tribunal)?
I've started playing from scratch as the motorics guy because did not want being hit and spent a day off. Now it's the 4-th day, I have a gun, fairweather t-500 thought and 15 reaction speed in total (after taking drugs). But I still can not dodge the Kortenaer shot during the mercenary tribunal. Is it possible at all? I can probably up the learning cap by some thought and get 3 more points. Will it help? Is it possible to pass "impossible" checks at all having some very high parameters?

The first, yes, the second, no. The second one is one of the literally impossible checks that will always fail.

Technically speaking a double 6 is always a succes. But in this one instant, no, you can only fail that roll. It's scripted.

As impossible as dodging the spoilers.

It's not honest. If it's scripted then what for is throwing dices here? Isn't it better to reward a player for his stats somehow? Something like (success / failed check) `you were lightly / heavily wounded` and ... the same queue here, spend a day off etc ... and then add some permanent penalty for the heavy wound? And the same with closed bunker door - I've played the whole game from the start with the goal to unlock it, saved points, raised caps, increased coordination to 15 points etc. only for getting info that it was blocked from the other side. Always failed check, no exp, and the result is absolutely useless and is not related to the stats.

You're rewarded in being able to avoid a shot. It influences the outcome of that showdown. You're rewarded in being able to complete other skill checks and get the input from that side of your brain.

To think you can simply Matrix your way past bullets as a washed-up drunk makes no sense whatsoever. If you check the log you can see it's not really "throwing" the dice, it's recorded as an automatic fail. As for the door, you get a thought that tells you that some doors just cannot be opened so ??

My washed-up drunk can Matrix slo-mo-circle-kick-in-the-air a man twice my own size. Let's face it, time and time again, my Harry was an absolute robocop rambo action hero throughout my playthrough, so it would very much have made perfect sense he could be it again when it came to dodging bullets.

This. One must remember that immediately before going into washed up drunk mode, he was an absolute Robocop Rambo.

The only reason you're able to dodge the first shot is you're needling an incredibly drunk merc who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. It is totally against the setting/rules to be able to "dodge" bullets.

Its sad that you cant dodge the second shot even with high motorics.
They should have to get Harry faint after all the adrenaline, and woke up like when they shot you.

Not at all, no.

This is a game where you can hold useful conversations with your tie, where there is a hole in the fabric of reality and you figure dodging bullets is against the setting?

Talking to your tie is deliberately ambiguous, it could just be your imagination or the brain damage talking. And a few breaks from reality don't mean anything and everything is possible. Psychic powers =/= dragons, memory editing clouds of nonexistence =/= Matrix dodging. And even if there were characters with bullet-dodging superpowers, that doesn't mean you'd be one of them.

And the whole firefight could be in your imagination or brain damage talking. 'Dodging bullets' can also be literal or it can be distracting the shooter enough that they miss. The shooter in question is also drunk and angry regardless of their training. Edit: Also breaks from reality do mean anything is possible. It is true that does not equate to always being right, merely that saying 'that's impossible' does not mean much in a world where things normally considered impossible are clearly happening.

But Matrix kung-fu spin-kick in the air does in fact equal matrix dodging.

That's what you're going with? An eccentricity and a "hole" that could be a symbol for almost anything?

It's a grounded game that lacks anything exceptional whatsoever, except for your brain telling you weird stuff from time to time.

On an unrelated note, I have absolutely no idea why it's so important to people that they be successful at everything in a game they attempt. Is this the modern gamer I've heard so much about?
