Anyone else getting high temps playing this?
I'm currently through playing Disco Elysium and I'm having a blast, though I find that my GPU temp runs suspisciously high when playing. It hits around 70º degrees, which is a bit much for a game that doesn't look so demanding. Especially on a 1060.
I've found a reddit thread complaining about the same thing, but with their CPU.

Anyone else has this issue? I'm a bit worried that I may have to do some maintenance on my GPU due to failing temp control or something.

Yup and mine is a new budget pc AMD Radeon RX 580 series, the AMD software also says that everything meets recommended requirments.

Yet after getting into the back room of the Bookstore the GPU caps at 100% and the fan is attempting suicide.

There's another thread about limiting your frame rate, set it to 30 fps and it seems to have fixed it somewhat.

Haven't checked temps but my fans do kick in the same as if I were playing something like Vermintide 2, so I imagine it's happening to me as well.

I was just looking if more people had this problem, i have a RX570 and didn't have any problem when i bought the game but now my gpu is locked at 100% and the temperature is absurd, i can even cook something in my pc case. I don't know if it's a problem with the amd driver but it's 100% gpu related, my cpu is running fine. I don't remember updating the driver or anything, did the game received a update?

Edit: The op uses a nvidia card? Then the problem is game related i guess

Yes, I use an Nvidia. I sent my computer to cleaning and changed the old thermal paste (it was time, anyway) and it did help somewhat (it was actually peaking around 80º, now it is peaking at 70º at most, as I said at first).
Still, it's a high temperature and I've been able to notice it happens depending on the area you're playing. As Azure pointed out, the Doomed Commercial Area for some reason just makes my GPU work harder, that's when it peaks at 70º.

Granted, I still haven't properly tested how it goes with other games due to laziness on my part, but it's still very weird for a not so demanding game to hit those numbers.

I'm on the church after the punks moved in so there's a lot of lighting and stuff , i don't know if it's the cause but i think this game using this much of the gpu is a problem, i can play shadow of the tomb raider on max and nowhere in the game the gpu stays that hot and the fan makes so much noise. Something is wrong

I'm loving the game thus far but i'm afraid to continue playing like that

There is no frame limiter.

Disco is also running hot on my new HP Omen gaming laptop. I could not find a support section on the developers website nor any fixes online. Worried about playing with such high temps as I am in Australia and it is summer with days reaching the 40's. How do you lower framerate for this game - there does not seem to be that option under settings.

General ways to reduce heat,

- Make sure VSync is on
- Turn down graphics options like shadows, AA, post processing,...
- Reduce resolution/lower refresh rate (pick 60hz instead of 100/120/144). Some games don't allow this, then things like NVidia Control Panel have an option to select highest refresh rate.

Seriously how do you actually get support for this issue - nothing I have tried has stopped this games from overheating my laptop? There is no support option on the publishers website.

70º is a decent working temp no? I'm pretty sure it's not considered 'high'
NotAfan Dec 30, 2019 @ 7:37pm
For a game not nearly as demanding as Disco Elysium seems to be, it's worrying, especially if you have much higher specs than recommended.
Sure it peaks at 70 now after I've changed the thermal paste on my GPU, but it was this game that tipped me off to it by making my card get around 83 degrees. It would be one thing if it was a big, demanding game graphically, but for a modest (technically speaking) one it's certainly at least a bit odd.

I tried limiting the fps. Used radeon chill, used riva tuner, etc but can put it at 30 for ex; Frame limiters don't work at all. Not only that but the gpu is a 100% all the time, even on minimum the game is using 100% of the gpu. The fan makes a lot of noise.

The game needs a fix, i cant play like that. It's summer in Brazil too and having the pc this hot is a problem

It's a temperature for full load all time, this should not be the case for disco as i can run overwatch with +200fps and the gpu stays at 66º. I think the problem is that the gpu is at min or max for this game. The graph shows that, it peaks and then go all the way down. So everytime the game needs more freq than the minimum it stays at 100% of the gpu without using the other levels of freqency. This is why it runs really hot, mine is running at 1420hz all the time

My gpu fans have taken some serious spins while playing this game

Nah full load is 80 and up, 70 is perfectly fine.
