Anyone know what the Palerunner achievement is?
I love achievement hunting so I'm ready for hardmode! But this is a secret achievement I can't find any info on, anyone know how to get this please?

I just discovered a new method and got the achievement an hour ago. (Not sure if it is reproducible though.)

Here is how:

  1. go to the doomed commercial area from the bookshop/gym side.
  2. enter the dark area with the flashlight equipped (inaccessible otherwise), you will find a bird specimens right after you entered the first room.
  3. park your character at the righthand side of the bird specimen.
  4. unequip flashlight
  5. quick save and quick load
  6. click/interact with Kim and you will be teleported back to the entrance and receive the achievement.

You can also check this video I made:

Let me know if this method works for you. I hope it is helpful.:claptrap:

not yet, I'm waiting for a yellow thought circle in the Union Lounge (where the radio is) to pop up and then start fiddling around with saving. That's when Harry makes a comment about someone recently sitting there.

The yellow circle appears when you have enough perception

Okay good to know. I'll have to fiddle a bit as my character has only 2 points in this section for this run. Any good thought cabinets to uncap more slots in perception?

Long Lonesome Way Home (raises your cap to 5, wonder where your home is after talking to Garte - don't say you'll be a hobocop), Col Do Ma Ma Daqua (+3, talk to Lena and then the pawnshop owner about the invisible cryptid), and Searchlight Division (+2, keep trying to find missing persons).

The guide also says Apricot-Scented One (+2), but I've never gotten that one.

Need to smell apricot scent at least twice for It to pop out.

You can:

- smell It from the secret compartment of the ledger found in the trash container

- smell It from a bubblegum wrap found in the blue-jeans pants, those are in Cindy's bedroom, the one with the coal furnace.

- smell It from the Pissf****t jacket.

Having high perception in that room gives a yellow circle saying someone has been sitting in the chair drinking coffee, after that you might get a blue circle next to your head (high Logic? Visual Calculus?) saying someone chills to the radio on the reg. Having high Inland Empire gives a purple circle near the coffee machine on the cabinet, saying the dark liquid looks almost sentient. If you have high enough Volition you can look at a note in the cabinet, which mentions Easy Leo, who says he likes listening to the radio when you ask him "do you work here". So it's most likely Leo's office and radio.

Not sure if any of this means anything. Leo doesn't mention anything pale related at all, iirc.

I also found that entering the office mutes the boombox tape player you can carry around. I remember mention of the pale being "silent", so not sure if thats related.
I did discover that playing the "little church" tape on the boombox while I stand next to the office radio triggers a bug that freezes my game, so my effort wasn't entirely fruitless.

Are y'all doing these experiments naked, as proscribed in Medicinal Purposes of the Pale? Both in-game and IRL to be safe, I am unsure how far Shivers and Inland Empire checks reach. :t500:

Always.

^^^ I think Pissf*****t's jacket must be the trigger point for that one. I've definitely done the other two things. Searchlight Division comes up when you talk to Lilienne about her husband, I think after having gotten the Working-Class Woman to agree to let you look for hers.

Why don't you just change files in game saves to get 20 lvl of perception?

Little off topic but do you happen to know what the check is related to for that BTW? I threw out the note in my ledger for Caustic Echo, got the wrapper in the pants, but can't get PF's jacket to trigger anything for me. Guessing it's an INT check, since my character this go is high psyche/phys, ok mot, horrible int.

I've gotten the jacket before but didn't realize anything special with it. That's the one on the fence by the pier right? which you get the washerwoman to clean?

No, it belongs to one of the Skulls you can run into outside of Kim's car starting on Day 4. You can convince them to give their jackets to you with a Half-Light check. Not sure I just never put it on in the run where I got the jackets or if I just didn't have the skills for it, but I'm not sure about the check, sorry.

The Wiki says that it's related to Suggestion, try to pump that up with other clothes and the ledger of Oblivion that should be in your possession and then wear the jacket, maybe it'll prompt a purple bubble, let us know.

It's not, because I had the thought in both my playthroughs and never had his jacket.

Oh and in my run the trigger for Searchlight Division was asking Lilienne about Ruby , but I belive It is the last of 3 necessary triggers.

Correct, smelling the ledger and the chewing gum wrap in the jeans pocket was enough for me too.
