[SOLVED] How to open the shipping container?

So, I brought the container down on day 2, tried knocking on it, tried "open the door" and my only option is to leave.
I came back on day 3 and I still haven't gotten the option to persuade the door to open.
What am I doing wrong?

Edit: never mind while I was in the harbour I spoke to Evart and my rhetoric skill kicked in, telling me that I should try convincing it

I'll keep this thread up for anyone else who runs into this problem.
