The official soundtrack is a mix (and remix) of a few old and tons of brand new songs for the game. Unfortunately there's nothing we can do about how YouTube and these companies handle copyright nor how their algorithms flag content. We've been in talks with them about this for quite a while now and they simply won't bend the rules. Like Ubisoft, Square Enix and many others we recommend content creators disable music for all game recordings just to be on the safe side.
ZA/UM = the RCM
Steam = the Union
Streamers = ?
It's still a great game and I'm really enjoying playing it.
On a side note I'm a composer and I can see why the copyright system is there however I intend to set up my tracks to be available to youtubers for free, as long as I get a mention of course :-) It'll make good exposure.
This has annoyed me somewhat. There are plenty of capable composers out there that are more than willing and able to compose for games. Just look at Subnautica which has an amazing soundtrack written for the game, no copyright issue there.
If game companies insist on using copyrighted music within games they there should be a disclaimer as you start the game stating so.
Or is this a ploy by the labels to get their music snuck into game soundtracks so they can steal the earnings of unsuspecting streamers and influencers?
In general, though, I agree -- a lot of licensed tracks end up being used briefly and are so far in the background that you could probably give a composer some work and not have to worry about the license expiring 10 years down the line.
At least a lot of games are giving streamer-friendly options now. The devs here were very up-front about the issues with Youtube's auto-flagging (maybe that post needs to be stickied or something), and they tried to get it resolved. Youtube said no, but If something is still tripping the flag with streamer-friendly mode on, maybe bring that up and see if it can be resolved.
The dev said this:

So how is OP even telling the truth about the dev?
