What kind of cop are you?
I have finished the game and solved the case. I was a very boring cop.
High intellect and psyche with points in logic, conceptualisation, visual calculus, empathy, authority and perception. I ignored any supernatural or psycho stuff (e.g. inland empire, shivers) and I did not use any alcohol or drugs. I was thinking about being a regular cop, a moralist and someone who tries to find out his own past and the history of this town.

Some day I will play the game again. Maybe then I will try the opposite: A brutal communist psycho who beats and threatens people, thinks crazy things and gives answers that no sane person would ever take. Lets see if you can finish the game if you are dumb as hell.

You can definitely do an idiot run, I've actually done two-- a high-Motorics strung-out junkie with signature Electrochemistry and a fascist Boring Cop with 5 Physique and signature Authority. 1 Intellect, the both of them. Logic and Rhetoric will have you cursing your own stupidity.

Thanks

Some of my best gaming experiances were playing a dumb evil half orc in arcanum who drives other chars insane with his dumbness and beiing a malkavian in Bloodlines.

Well, something of an Intellectual Communist Art-Cop. For what it's worth...

My very first playthrough I wanted to play as a super smart, intuitive "Sherlock Holmes" type, so I maxed Intellect put the remaining points in Psyche and set Physique and Motorics to 1. I woke up turned on the light, took damage from the pain the light caused had a heart attack and died....

After I got done laughing, I tried again, set Physique and Motorics to a more reasonable 2 and then spread the remainder of points to Intellect -5 and Psyche -3. This was a more reasonable build as I was still playing a reasonably Intelligent Cop build, but I wasn't a complete physical trainwreck that was going to drop dead any second. I played through as if I had reached rock bottom, had an epiphany and was trying to clean up my act and get my life together. I refused to touch alcohol or drugs, I tried to be as nice as I could. I played a "just the facts, mam" straight laced cop. I avoided political answers or taking sides. I never took bribes or did anything unethical. I put most of my points in things I would consider a dedicated cop would emphasize, logic, visual calculus, authority, volition, Esprit de Corp.

All in all it was a pretty fun playthrough, seeing this cop who was at rock bottom turn into a straight laced ace detective. I think on my next play through I'm going in the opposite direction and play it like he's decending into madness, put points in the weird things like Inland Empire, Drama, Shivers, Half Light.

Sad Commie Apocalypse Cop unhealthily obsessing over his broken heart. No escapism there ;)

Was 5/4/2/1, with a spec in Encyclopedia. Didn't wind up putting all that many points in it (early game 6 was enough to drown me in data, lategame it didn't seem to have too much more to say and other voices were more fun), in fact besides Shivers and some of the Motorics I didn't spend more than 1 point in any skill and even then it was usually to be able to reroll checks. I spent a *lot* of points internalizing and discarding thoughts over the cours of the game however, and I juggled clothes a lot too.

I always play these types of games as much as myself as I can; Logical, empathical, following the rules. It was a very satisfying game.

I think next playthrough I'll go drunken fascist and see what happens, I have no real clue of what to expect so it will be interesting to see how the game adapts.
I put all my points in the upper two categorys basically Empathy, Inland Empire, Logic, Reasoning etc, I was a supernatural detective and a wehement believer in Plasmids (Much to Kims chagrin) all throughout the game always picking the illogical explanation, but in the end it led me to the truth.
