According to a dead link Wikipedia citation, Disco Elysium is set in the same world as the lead writer's previous novel Sacred and Terrible Air

Kurvitz is the game's lead writer.

It's based on Rock Paper Shotfun citation, but the link redirects to the RPS homepage.

If anyone can confirm this, it seems like it would be worth seeking out the book.

The book takes place in the same world as Disco Elysium but 21 years later. It is currently in the process of being translated to English. Robert has been working hard to get Disco Elysium finished but once we have launched, he’ll be able to return to the book. Expect it in the second half of 2020.

Spoilers: The dev just copy pasted the asnwer from the FAQ, which can be found on this forum if you use your investigation skills a lil bit. :P
