No dialogue option to remove corpse boots despite fulfilling all requirements? Please help

Hi,

I am trying to remove the boots from the corpse. As far as I can tell, I have met all requirements.

1. I tried to pull the boots off with Kim watching. My character though of stealing the boots, and I get the actual task which explicitly says to steal the boots.
2. I tried to pull the boots off before performing the autopsy, but the corpse took on Kim's voice and told me to try again after doing the autopsy.
3. In the autopsy, I went as far as omitting the boots from the report.
4. I have met all three requirements laid out in the task. The autopsy is done, but the body is still on the ground. Kim is in bed. I am sneaking out at 11 at night, and yet when I go to the corpse, I literally only have two options: "Tell me something, dead man," And "Leave." That's right. Despite performing ALL of the requirements for this quest, my character apparently doesn't even get the dialogue option to try removing the boots - and this is the night after I had that same dialogue option! What is going on? Is this a glitch? I want to try the next night, but I don't want to progress the game and find out I have to reload to the second night. This seriously is stopping me from playing this game. I'm really ♥♥♥♥♥♥. If I can't trust the game to reward me for actually paying attention to details and making the right choices in a long chain of choices, then why should I even play this game? Can somebody please help?

I tried pulling them off - and got the corpse telling me to wait for the autopsy to be done - on the FIRST DAY. That implies that I can pull them off on the second day - but is that somehow not allowed? What is going on?

I have the same exact issue. I thought it might be related to plot, so I went ahead and played through another day. Still the same issue that night.

Try refrigerating the body. It's a task that comes up if you end the autopsy and need to leave it on the ground. Can try around 9:30/10 I think.

I have the same issue. There is simply no option to pull boots in dialog with corpse. I finished autopsy and got rid of Kim. At the same time I have this task in my journal.

Hopefully they will fix it in the next update.

i got the boots! get corpse in bear fridge, go to the bear ice fridge without Kim, then do the dialogue options to steal them - bam, fancy boots

I can't get the corpse to the fridge because I already completed the autopsy, as my inner dialogue suggested. I think this is actually an essential part of recreating the bug, you need to not perform the autopsy on day 1, try to take the boots night 1, autopsy day 2

1. Do NOT look for bullet while autopsy, choose to leave.
2. Get rid of Kim. If he not follows, save/load then.
3. Profit.

Yeah, it's now 2025 and the issue still exists despite all patches and the Final Cut being out. I found the secret wound in the initial field autopsy, fully extracted it all, and was rewarded with awesome praise from the kids and Kim - problem is, I can't take those boots. I'm sure I could have gotten them if I'd left it until the fridge and taken them off later - but even sending Kim to bed with the body entirely finished-up-with but still lying on the ground doesn't give an option to take them off. I don't suppose it's now likely this will be fixed after ZA/UM's recent antics, but it basically means you can't get the boots unless you FAIL that check.

Kinda a little bit off topic but does it still make sense to report other bugs via your google bug report form? It seems like there weren't any new updates for years. Will there ever be any new updates and bug fixes?
Just want to know so I don't waste my time and effort for nothing when I send bug reports.
