Authority and Tritus - Failing To Understand The Intention
I'm stuck on the Authority check for Tritus. I've already done the favor Evhart gives you to increase the odds but I'm only at 17% success. If the roll fails I'm prompted to point the gun at myself. I tried all the dialogues to ramp up the scene and then handed the gun back to Kim which then killed my Morale (which I only have 1) and I lost.

Tried again but this time actually shooting and obviously killed myself.

I'm failing to understand what the devs want me to do here. There's nothing left to investigate or pin hole them into as far as I know to increase the odds of the check.

Have you checked out the blue door in the Whirling in Rags? Have you searched the basement of the bookstore thoroughly? Checked Ruby's lorry?

If you haven't investigated fully and collected all of the evidence, the check is hard. The more you do the less difficult it is. There's also drugs and clothes.

Don't think I can do anything with the blue door anymore.

I have but couldn't scream into the chimney well enough and have to wait for a skill increase.

Ruby is the pawn shop guy, right?

Told electrochemistry no to drugs so no clue where to get them besides I guess the pawn shop but I have no desire to do that with this playthrough.

I keep forgetting clothes. Always find that annoying design. But will have to acknowledge them at some point.

Try the door at Klaasje's balcony.

Walk up the steps near the planning boards, I don't remember what I did but it'll tell you to "scream from your diaphragram, not your head" and that'll give you a massive boost in the chimney scream check.

Ruby isn't the pawn shop guy, you'll know her later.

How much Perception do you have?

Still have to increase my skill to try the chimney again.

I think 5 or 6. I put 6 pts into INT and 3 into PHY and 2 into motirics. Its given me a few environmental quips but not much else.

No. That's Cindy. You won't see Ruby for a long time, ask the Hardie boys about her when you can.

I mentioned her being the head of the gang; assuming thats who you speak of. Is there another dialogue I missed?

In a way, she is. You'll get more dialogue as you get more evidence.

Gotcha, thanks for the help. Still begs the question of what the point of authority giving you the option to put the gun to your mouth is. It just seems to kill you either way.

You failed the check, and your authority personality self-check whatever it is, thought the best way to prove authority was to threaten to kill yourself. You live if you don't pull the trigger and just hand the gun to kim. Don't worry, you'll get the option to do the authority check later.

I think what makes this game different from other skill checks is skill check doesn't mean failure and you can't do it (except for physical feats) rather your mind gives you bad advice instead. It's interesting.

I believe I tried not shooting myself ultimately but my morale got hit and I "died" that way. Either way the whole demonstration proves completely pointless?

If it says "morale critical" then hit the morale meter, thing. If you picked up magnesium, it'll basically refill your morale.

Morale running out makes your character have a mental breakdown and give up the case rather than actually die, sorry about that. Thought you meant you actually went with pulling the trigger.

I know, only had 1 magnesium, which was used when I put the gun in my mouth. After backing out of shooting yourself I believe you lose another morale and I die.

I never found myself a shortage of magnesium. Hold tab when you can, it highlights objects that you can loot from, usually money but magnesium is common too.

Perception is Motorics so you'd need to increase PER's cap or get a bonus from a thought.

With 4-6 and a decent roll, that should be enough to get you past the blue door if you look in the right place. the window of the Hardie's booth.
