But is it?
The question is, that is the question.
You might succeed with a critical success roll (6x6), but you may not *succeed*.
So? What if you can't get 20 without modifiers? I have them and they count. The bunker door had a purpose. Kim says something along the lines "You can't open all the doors" and then you get a thought, as long as other conditions are met.
What was the point of this? Jebait me and p iss me off?
Did you complete that thought? It basically ends with Harry (and the game) saying that some things are impossible and you just have to come to terms with that. Like how I don't think you can solve the mystery of the pale at the end of Soona's quest
You get shot because it leads to a pretty important moment with your best bro Kim, and determines how things proceed afterwards.
Is anything phrased differently?
I didn't get the thought, a friend of mine told me about it. But the checks saying impossible doesn't actually mean impossible. I have passed impossible checks before.
But here I had to go through Evrart's ♥♥♥♥, which I was planning on ignoring, invest in reaction speed and hand eye coordination because I knew where my choices were leading me. I'm fine with my actions leading to an inevitable outcome, but I'm really not fine with this fixed bait. Don't put it there in the first place. I was prepared to accept any result when I started shooting, except this.
Imagine not having invested in reaction speed and say to yourself "In my next playthrough, I'm going to show him who is boss".
What do you mean by that exactly?
I didn't get one, but when I moused over, even though I got 20 it said "Inevitably failed".
Yeah, I agree with the bunker door. The reaction speed check on the other hand seriously annoyed me.
Did you somehow find a third bullet? Can't expect to take on 3 armed and armored mercs with just a single bullet. I only found one. There's a second, which requires you to break into a random apartment for no good reason.
