*finger guns* + *The Expression*
No problem. Helping out is not only extremely *disco*, it's definitely HARD-CORE.
But *is it* though?
I've heard it referenced directly by Ruby, and I see the pale as a -10 modifier when I need to figure out the singularity in the church, but I can't seem to trigger any of the pale conversations with Joyce, the Pail Driver, or the Old Washerwoman, and I feel like I've exhaustively gone through all the dialogue options.
How do I get Joyce to speak about the Pale?
Is there some early interaction where I need to have triggered something?
Do I need to be on drugs?
I'm most of the way through a second playthrough at this point, and I despite other parties passively referencing the pale, I have never had any option to talk with Joyce about it.
How and when do people even get the option to talk with her about it?
I opened a save file using 7zip and used a text editor to view the contents directly.
I did a search for "pale" and located what appears to be a quest trigger.
Setting that to true didn't do me any favors (this could speak to the bug issue). However, I also found the pale unknown modifier -- I'll play with it later. It turns out there's a book you can buy in the book store "medical purposes of the pale" or something to that effect. It looks to be a bunch of non-sense, but it speaks about the pale as a thing that removes memory. There's also some drink that can be made -- but I'm not sure if that's an honest puzzle or a dead end.
If I figure out how to modify the save file so as to make it possible to ask about the pale, I will post here.
Something that frustrates me know is the fact that there are so many individual texts that reference the pale, yet we're tied to Joyce as an obligatory passage point.
You need to tell the Cryptozoologist's wife that you have amnesia and she will recommend you talk to other people to learn more about the world's history. From there you should be able to bring it up with her (it is gated behind a high Conceptualization skill check).
From there you can talk with her when Kim is asleep, or if you have a high enough rhetoric skill (which can be boosted by him trusting you), convince him to talk a walk while you talk about it with her.
