Big Hidden Secret?
[Slight possible spoilers ahead]

I haven't actually finished the game (still searching for Ruby at the end of day 3), but I recently came across a few perplexing details that all seem to hint at one big secret hidden in the game. I typically scorn at (most) conspiracy theories and I'm far from saying that there's definitely something to my findings, but it all seems too peculiar for me to ignore and I'd like people to share their thoughts on this.

So here are my discoveries:

1- While inside the game developer studio (in the basement of the bookstore), you can find a data file called 'Production Schedule' and eventually read it after acquiring the password. Now I already thought it was quite interesting/peculiar to have a game studio included in the game (kinda like the devs of Disco Elysium self-referencing their work), so I felt like exploring it thoroughly.

While reading this (rather lengthy) 'Production Schedule', at some point you can discover what led to the studio's demise. Among other details, you can learn that the lead developer invested too much resources toward a "secret mystical location", one that's supposedly accessible "at the extreme edge of the map" and where the player can unlock heads for the "headless constructs" of the game. Of important note, "each head would have been voiced on air by a professional actor". Maybe this is hinting at future plans to include more voice acting in Disco Elysium at a later time?

Shortly after learning that, you can actually ask the computer to compute all of the heads/bodies possibilities. If you choose so, the game (Disco Elysium that is) literally bombards you with a GIGANORMOUS number that goes on-and-on-and-on-and-on, for like 10+ pages of text or so.

Pretty damn unsettling, the whole thing really stood out to me and I felt like casually keeping an eye for a potential "secret mystical location at the extreme edge of the map" while playing Disco Elysium.

2- While searching for Ruby, if your Shivers ability is high enough you can trigger a thought/feeling in the barren field near the fishing village. Now that thought/feeling is noticeably longer than most other ones you can encounter, where you can practically 'feel' the entirety of the game's world (and slightly beyond). You can ask "What's north/south/east/west/below?" as well as "Where's Ruby?", and if you explore it all it goes on-and-on about seemingly unimportant details (eg. "you see school kids on a cold morning with petals flying in the air, yada yada").

Now I thought that this too stood out quite a bit and felt like reading it all very attentively, until I finally stumbled across a few paragraphs (under the option "What's east?") that particularly stood out to me amid all that blather:

"And further..."

"A fenced-off yard. There's a truck belonging to a logistics company parked next to the gate. Bright light from a building behind the fence reflects off its hood."

"Clean white light, coming from the windows of a clean cube-shaped office building hidden amidst ruins. A secret..."

Combined with point #1 where I thought that there might be a secret "at the edge of the map", I felt like exploring east to figure out if that "truck belonging to a logistics company" was actually a thing within the game world of Disco Elysium. Which led me to point #3...

3- Yep, the truck definitely exists and you can spot it just a few screens to the right of the pawn shop, at (you guessed it) the edge of the map. "Delta Logistics Company" it reads, and again, if you approach it with high enough Shivers a thought/feeling is triggered where you can scrutinize the mysterious "bright light" mentioned in point #2. Another option "explore more" is also available but in my case (end of day 3) the game told me to "return to it later".

Screenshot: https://ibb.co/N9DMPRS

Now an extremely peculiar fact: if you observe the writing on the truck, the first letters of "Delta Logistics Company" really stand out in that they're much brighter than the other letters and there's also a noticeable spacing between those first letters and the rest of the words. Notice how all 3 of them are also perfectly aligned vertically. And what are those letters? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ "DLC"... as in ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ "downloadable content". As mentioned in point #1, maybe this DLC will have to do with additional voice acting for Disco Elysium?

End of my findings. Now it's as I told it in my introduction, "I typically scorn at (most) conspiracy theories and I'm far from saying that there's definitely something to my findings"... but I dunno, to me it all seems all too convenient/consistent to ignore.

What are your thoughts about this?

If this is just related to end-game content that I have yet to unlock, please simply disregard this silly theory (or laugh at it, I sure don't mind). Otherwise, you're more than welcome to share your own ideas about this, either positive or negative. :)

see it's stuff like this that are why I play my detective as extremely perceptive and intelligent while being loopy and secretly (not) obsessed with paranormal ramblings. Hence why he always investigates supernatural claims.

Woah, that's certainly interesting...

I'll definitely have to listen to that story to better understand the whole context.

Fascinating thread. Thanks for sharing all of this. I just finished the game and reading these kind of threads makes me want to jump right back in. I bought it on GOG, otherwise I would write a steam review. People NEED to play this game.

Good detective work. Highly conceptual. You're a hard-core hustlegrinder.

Great find, but I'm a bit confused as to why people are confused about the purpose of the location. It's very clearly the entrance to a future DLC (as you yourself point out in the post). Not an ARG, not some hidden content that's there already. Just a hook for a future side-story.

Cool of the devs to introduce it in the base game, not add on later.

I'm still holding hope that there is something to do with the Street Lantern, possibly something related to the headless FLAN rider.

I just edited my original post to add a bit more info to point #1, including a video showing the aforementioned huge number generated by the computer.

I also previously completely overlooked the part where Disco Elysium mentions that "each head would have been voiced on air by a professional actor", this also has been added.

Huh, I'm presenting it as a mystery because Disco Elysium makes a point to present it all as an utter and very well hidden mystery.

This might indeed be "the entrance to a future DLC", but to say it's "very clearly" so is quite a stretch considering how all of it is so cautiously hidden and still so hazy.

Wait, what's that?

Could you please elaborate, I haven't encountered any of this in the game and this seems somehow related to my previous findings.

The story about the headless FALN rider, alongside the Cocaine Skull and how he lost his keys, is on of the 3 stories the Idiot Doom Spiral tells you. There are different versions, but they all go pretty much like this: There was a guy wearing the FALN outfit who was decapitated. Now they say he roams the land looking for his FALN hat. Some say he can be seen at exactly 12:00 at the end of the canal still looking for it. (not sure where he roams exactly, it doesn't specifically say Martinaise I think).

The Street Lantern is sold in the pawn shop for 700 real, not sure if it's possible to buy that.

Edit: The Cocaine Skull story is related to your findings, in particular the conversation I posted a screenshot of above.

That's pretty damn interesting, especially since the truck I found is actually right next to the canal.

Plus the Shivers thought/feeling that's triggered when you approach the truck told me to return to it later.

Hmm, I might try approaching it at 12:00...

Don't forget to wear the FALN hat, just in case. ♥♥♥♥ it, wore the whole outfit.

Haha, yeah I also thought about that, though I still need to buy the shoes for $50.
