Is there a point to staying sober?
I'm waaay deep into the game and so far I haven't touched booze or drugs or cigarettes in an effort to keep my cop on the straight and narrow. But does the game actually keep track of this in the narrative? I don't really care about the mechanics of it, I'm wondering if the story and interactions change if my cop has a drink. By which I mean I'd like to raise my skill caps but not if it ♥♥♥♥♥ up my road to sobriety.

[no spoilers please]

Yes, it helps in final scene. Not sure how much.

I didnt use, cause i couldnt see point. Its just +1 to skill.

It does keep track. Some characters aren't overly happy that you come to them with alcohol on your breath, pinhead pupils or a lit smoke, either.

It doesn't seem to keep track of if you've drank or done drugs or not. I drank and smoked once to get the 30xp quest rewards and it has no effect later on. I didn't experiment enough to know if repeated use has any effect, however.

Yeah, I would REALLY like that xp, but not if it's going to ♥♥♥♥ me over in the final scene.

I've smoked and drank alcohol once, then internalized the "stop drinking" thought, and it doesn't appear that had any negative influence on the final scene.

Thanks, I'll risk it then!

Lieutenant Katsuragi would be disappointed with you for drinking on the job. You wouldn't want to let him down, would you? He's a good guy.

No Kim is my good friend! Mustn't let him down, no way.

I didn't notice a difference as long as I didn't drink/smoke/do drugs on the job. To get the XP for the quests I would drink/drug/smoke before bed, that way nobody saw me under the influence. Doing it that way didn't seem to effect the story in any way... Maybe I missed something, but yeah I didn't notice any -1+ on any checks saying "you drank earlier" or anything with the way I did it.

It only lasts an hour or so after you partake and sleeping wipes them out. It's not a bonus to individual checks, it's a flat bonus to the stat for as long ad it lasts.

Not really, unless there's a specific reason in the moment, like if you have to drive, attend a job interview or other important meeting, etc.

If you even drink a single drop of alcohol during the game, it will be mentioned negatively in the final scene, and I think it might even be one of the factors for the final outcome, even though it can be outweighed by good conduct otherwise (Kim can still trust you).

In the last sceene there is a line. I drank and smoked once to get the xp, but they summerized it as "he has not stoped drinking" only played through once though, so might be they say that anyway
