Why is the chair killing me?

I just met Evrart Claire, I sit on the chair, I die.
I can’t understand why or how to avoid it???

You only have one 'hit point' in your health, probably as your physique and endurance are both 1. You can raise your endurance to increase your max health, or click on your health after you take the damage but before you die, which will use a recovery item if you have one.

Is your Endurance 1? Then your health is 1. Is your Volition 1? Then your Morale is 1.

No you don't. You have three HEALING items. Use one quickly when it says health critical to survive.

You can also drink some alcohol and that will give you a temporary +1 bonus to health so you can survive the murdering chair.

Anytime you get a health critical or morale critical warning you can quickly click on the relevant bar (ie the health bar that is dropping) and you’ll heal if you have a healing item (shown as the number above your bars).
