Apparently someone said if you finish up the "P-ssing Contest" Task by talking to Kim, it'll allow you to click on your Door to your room to allow you to send Kim away and sleep. Though I'm pretty sure I finished that task and still couldn't debrief Kim/sleep.
I think I read another post that mentioned going through Kim's dialogue about the 'pissing contest' resolved this bug.
Kim gives you help if you ARE a good cop.
The lady at the boat gives you money if you ask nice on day 1. Volition check
Garte the cafetaria manage lets you sleep for free if you threaten him nicely on day 1.
The union boss claire gives you money to get over the 2 start days, because he is a nice guy and you want to be friends with him. Dont you? You can do an additional side quest for him later. and another on day 3. for money.
You can collect tarde with the plastic bag found before the book store. There are many items hidden in the game world that can be sold for money or not.
There are thought constructs that give some money, like liberal thought. 1 real per liberal dialogue option.
I dont have money problems and bought nearly everything on the market, except the track shoes.
Have fun.
Or the game should give you other options that will inflict some kind of penalties if you do not manage to get the money.
Looks strange to me that you can decide to be a Hobocop, but not sleep on a bench or something similar. (I didn't embrace the Hobocop though and that is why I think didn't get the option to ask Joyce for money)
I was trying to role play a character that will not take bribes, beg or steal anything that is not nailed and that got me locked second night. I used all the relatively honest ways to get money to pay for the first night.
It's a shame, I fell so much freedom in everything else in that game.
I have to replay the whole second day in order let Kim sell his awesome rims for me the first night. At least was touchy moment :-)
The game is awesome I don't mind to much to have to replay the whole day, but still I think that this is one aspect that the game can improve. :-)
Btw I bought the game from GoG :)
i really hope i dont have to replay the second day. i did a lot of stuff and made a lot of mistakes and i dont want to have to redo both which i certainly would try to do because i stand by my decisions. good or bad :P
Apparently if its past 2 am on second day and you don't have enough money you are bit out of luck and need to reload. Alternatively there is instructions how to edit the save and add the missing money, which I ended up doing, since I didn't want to replay several hours.
I do love the game, but what I found bit frustrating is if money early on is this important why there are so many quest you can complete with the help of money, since without buying the items needed I would have had enough money. Sure enough those might be bad choices but let me keep on playing with the bad choices instead of having to reload.
It dawned on us both after wasting 2 or 3 hours that it wasn't going to happen and that the game was in a critical fail state loop. No way of proceeding whatsoever. This is a fatal QA bug that should have been picked up during testing or at least give the player some way of getting to sleep in order to proceed. There is absolutely no indication that you are actually stuck. No visual clues, no messages or hints telling you what you need to do.
The only way to remedy this situation, was to edit the save file that allows you to increase you wallet with enough cash to pay the hotel manager for the room for the night. Absolutely game breaking bug imo and spoiled the flow and progression of the game to the point of being incredibly frustrating. A very serious bug that definitely needs addressing.
