Did they nerfed save scumming?
Because I had a 92% chance of success but I kept failing it no matter how much I reloaded.

idk i think the skll checks arent always 100% above the table, either that or i dont understand the mechanics because i got this result; https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1891336631
and the math seems like i should have passed with my 14 vs the 12 on a check that said it was 42%. felt jipped, so i've treid to scum it 10 times or so now and it hasnt gone, for a 42% percent check it feels like somethings up....

So I progressed forward a bit after "failing" that skill check and while the game insisted that I've failed, it also claimed that I "technically didn't" because the two old guys said I made a great shot, only that my character perceived it as "wrong".

to be fair one of the dialogue choices in the scenario if i remember right reveals that one of the old guys was just kissing your ass about it being a great shot when it actually wasnt

Which still meant that I failed a 92% chance of success despite save scumming. Even X-COM is not this cruel. I'm gonna assume players are meant to fail this specific check, which is a bit of a d*ck move from the devs if true.

yeah like i said. i failed that check i posted even though mathematically i should have passed it. either there are some bugged checks or some checks will fail for reasons that are not visible to the player

Okay, so I couldn't for the life of me succeed at a 92% chance despite save scumming but I somehow could succeed at a 3% chance on the first try.

I'm talking about the barred up door on Whirling-in-Rags' rooftop. And I did it when Klaasje wasn't around either but the game acted as if she's still there. Now I'm scared I've broke the game's questline or something for going into a place I'm not supposed to. Making a second save just to be safe.

Most games/systems use "seeded" random number generation. This essentially means all your "rolls" are determined upfront and given an ID that when fed back into the random number generator will recreate the same outcomes each re-run.

This is handy because it means in the event of a bug they can recreate the exact events that took place despite the "random" nature of the game....

Also randomness is frequently fudged for user experience, dramatic effect, etc.... Your DM/GM will do this and games frequently do it.

I can't say for sure if Disco is doing any of this ... But I would guess that it's doing one or both.

Disco is ddefinitely doing some seeded RNG. If you fail a check and want to savescum, try doing something else before it, or doing things in different sequence. This will move the seeded generator to a different path.

I don't think this is the problem... Because when scumming I get different dice rolls each time. But still fail whether I mathematically beat the check or not. Also I've definitely scummed andpassed a check previously so you CAN save scum in general. But you just plain fail some checks.

Maybe you internalize thought that automatically FAIL all red checks. I had one of those before.

I personally haven't had problems with save scumming, but this game is extremely buggy in it's current state. Ran into a game breaking bug that doesn't allow my character to sleep anywhere, with my partner permanently following me around. On top of that, a lot of the skill checks do absolutely nothing if you succeed them. No XP gained, no item gained, no new concept to dwell on, nada. Makes the whole skill check thing seems pointless half the time. There's even skill checks where no matter how high you've leveled up that skill, it's intentionally designed so you'll always fail unless you miraculously roll double 6's. Which just adds to how pointless the skill checks seem to be.

Oh God. Just checked and this was my problem. Good thinking. Wish the dice roll breakdown would mention it.
