Should I use custom archetype or premade?

Doesn't matter; you'll be weak regardless and you can dump points into areas you feel deficient later.

I would recommend using a custom character, as each of the premade have a 1 in a stat and you should probably not start the game with less than a 2 in anything. That said, you level up quickly so you can address weaknesses in the first few hours of play. The main issue is how often you want to succeed in the first hour or two. Succeeding is not always the best outcome, as failures can open up new options and provide amusing outcomes. (but sometimes when you fail, all you learn is that you've failed)
