I'm not even stuck here, but, I'm going to join the chorus saying that for a game which is all about giving you multiple ways to progress, this oversight is flat-out bad design. There should be a last resort alternative.
If I have to edit my save file to advance the game, your game is broken.
I'm all for consequences – so let me sleep on a bench like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bum.
im sure that was their idea. well i see no reason why they couldnt fix this.
Close your door, save the game, quit. Then load the game and click on the door and that should let you go in, Kim leaves, you go to sleep.
I agree, that's bad design. The game should give you alternatives and never, ever, soft-lock you.
For the first night, sell Kim's stuff that he himself offers at the pawnshop.
Second night, use the money Evrart gives you.
On Wednesday, go and meet the old lady who can be found washing clothes to the southwest of Whirling after you open up the bridge. She gives you a place to stay for free, which should settle the matter once and for all.
And also pick up the plastic bag near the bookshop and use it to grab bottles and tare strewn all over the city. You can sell these at the Fritte.
There is just no need to edit any files and give yourself extra money.
It's a roleplaying game, we're supposed to be able to play however we want.
Don't say there are no alternatives then. It is not bad design at all. You are just choosing not to take it.
And like I've mentioned, you get a free place to stay from Wednesday onwards.
Also you find quite a bit of stuff to sell when you explore. I've made myself a fairly decent amount of money.
He offers that cheque to you to clear things up with Garte. It's still 25 if you see him on Day 1, when you have 130 Real in debt.
Not only is that a bribe, but such a comically small bribe that I found it offensive. It won't help on Day 1, and after that you should be able to cover the rest on your own.
Nope, I'll feel free to say that it is bad design because that's the truth. You don't get any kind of game over screen, the game is just stuck in an unwinnable state if you don't have the money on Day 2. (And no, I didn't have problems with money.)
