Where are the purple portals ?

I just realised that I haven't seen a purple portal in a very, very long time now. I know they were changed in the big post DLC patch to spawn later in a run, but doesn't it feel like they barely spawn at all now ? I haven't seen the pre-boss void stage in a long while and that's a shame.

They now only spawn on stage 6 and later, as without command or an extremely good run going, the pre-boss and voiding itself could be extremely oppressive early into runs

You can still go through void fields if you want to fight it before stage 6.

Which makes making void fields a later game thing pointless since no one sane is going the the new end area early through the void fields

i miss the early purple portal spawns dangit.. it was such a fun little challenge if you were able to get it early
