Hunting the Irradiant Pearl

170 lunar coins, 40 stages, 1 cleansing pool later. Still not pearl. But I did get 11 regular pearls.

I think if you pass one cleansing pool you can end your run because you don't see a second one.

Edit: On my third try, I found a cleansing pool on stage 2 and luckily I already visited the Bazaar and bought 4 lunar items. I got the pearl o nthe 3rd or 4th try:

What Equo said below was smart, using the Sacrifice artifact cuts down on the clutter in the map, allowing you to focus more on finding the pools.

I got it by dumb luck on a stage that had both a pod and the pool.

You can find more than one pool per run, but it's hard since they're so rare. I saw two in my previous run. It's about a 13% chance and they only appear on Wetland Aspect, Scorched Acres, and Siren's Call according to the wiki (and as far as I've seen). You can middle click a pool to see whether it will drop the Irradiant Pearl next, but you'll probably need to put a ton of items into a single pool to get it anyways. I got it after depositing nine lunar items.

I got my first and second irradiant pearl from the same pool that was the third pool I saw in a three hour long run, after putting 28 lunar items total in it and spending 200+ coins on the run.

Just get a standard invincible god run going on, buy all the lunar items that won't get you killed like Gesture, Rachis, Corpsebloom, Convergence, etc. and use the dream portals to always go to swamp on stage 2, scorched acres on 3 and siren's call on 4, as those seem to be the only stages that can spawn cleansing pools. Feel to blast through stage 1 and 5 as quickly as possible.

I took advantage of the red spikes around interactables during the teleporter event to assist in spotting the pool, and I'd also recommend Drizzle to reduce the odds of a Scavenger one shotting you with equipment after you've invested so much.

I had 8 lunars in a run a long while back and by a stroke of luck the 8th print gave me an irradiant pearl

It's worth noting that 1.0 increased the spawn chance of 3D printers pretty dramatically, which in turn decreases the spawn chance of everything else. For reference, I used to find at least one Cleansing Pool per loop before 1.0. One per run feels pretty lucky now.

Since the drop rate of Irradiant Pearls are at 4%, it's statistically not unlikely that you might have to spend 100 "attempts" before you even get a single one. That ends up at a lot of Lunar Coins.

I went on Cleansing Pool hunts before 1.0 with a Radar Scanner and even after around 60 removed items, no luck. Then just the other day, I saw a Cleansing Pool and pinged it, "Irradiant Pearl", and I had no lunars as well as no pods on stage. Next run I experience the exact same, but there was a pod on stage, and you can bet your saving I prioritized the log over the run, cause I knew I would not get the chance again for the next 50 hours.

Mithrix with an Irradiant Pearl is hell.

I found that the best way to get the Irradiant Pearl is to go on a run with Sacrifice, Swarms, Kin and Dissonance (optional). Since you can't use Command, you need all the help you can get with cascading into a god run, and those artifacts do just that. Keep going on a loop, finding Newt altars and buying up all Lunar items except for equipment and Purity (it will kill your run), and after you get about 30 Lunar items, begin prioritizing the three stages where Cleansing Pools can be found.

I heard it's a 4% chance from cleansing pool. Stock up on harmless blues. Crown is probably fine if you run sacrifice, beads are a favorite since they literally do nothing during the run. Gouge (shrine spawns enemies) and the teleporter blue (-size for faster time) are also decent options.
And since you cannot use artifact, good luck getting decent choices in the shop.

Thanks! I thought sacrifice removed the pod, good to know it doesn't not having a million interactables on a stage clogging up your view will definitely help!

Twice I was in a multiplayer run where a cleansing pool spawned and the next pearl was displayed to be an irradiant pearl (by pinging it), and neither me nor my allies had lunar items/equpiments, and there was not a single lunar bud on the stage.

These bloody chances are haunting me more and more after the 1.0 update came, especially since I have yet to get the irradiant pearl (and I haven't made a run dedicated to it properly).

You are not even unlucky. You are extremely unfortunate. After 100 spent lunar items it's beginning to seem unlikely that you would not get an Irradiant Pearl soon, and if you truly spent hundreds, that is just wild. At what point do you just say "♥♥♥♥ it" and give up or edit your save?
